Some of you may remember that a few years ago I asked for some help finding a 300E for my nephew in San Diego. They bought a local 300E and everything was good.
Fast forward 4 years to yesterday. The car had been passed down to my niece when my nephew went to college. She is now getting ready to go away as well, with a promising future (perfect grades all through h.s., lots of activities, and big scholarships). She was sitting at a red light behind another car when a third car barreled into her from behind without even slowing, turning the 300E into an accordion. I'm pleased to say that the (now totaled) 300E did its job. Not only did she walk away without a scratch, but the really surprising thing is that her cello, which was in the trunk (aka crumple zone) and is probably worth more than the car, also survived unscathed.
Thank God for good German engineering!
