Hi everyone,

Here's an interesting look at a W124 front clip that was obtained by a local body shop to some work on an inner fender well. Notice the A-pillar is several layers of rolled steel, and the double layers of metal at the front firewall / blower motor cavity. Yes, modern cars are sturdier, but the W124's unibody is no "wet noodle".

That is always fascinating to see, and thanks for sharing. I've seen this same view many times at the Van de Velde wrecking yard in Belgium.
It would be interesting to do an engineering stress test / comparision between a modern A-pillar strength and front frame rails of a W124, and a W126 against modern equivalents. Would be interesting to see the strength delta between them. I wonder if it would be all that different.

Reminds me of the rear clip that I got for my 560SEC for the rear quarter panel repair, back in 2016-2017.

I have dissected at least a dozen w124s

This was the last victim:

There is another C124 now going to be chopped up into small pieces in a week or two
