I have 18" Mercedes 230 Launch Edition wheels 8-1/2" & 9-1/2" widths with Michelin Super Sports. The ride is a little firmer than the stock 16" wheels but not harsh. I must say that when I switched from stock 225/55-16 somewhat worn to a set of 230 500SL take offs it actually felt better.
I have to say that my suspension is in good shape which can make a huge difference. Bad suspension will take away from the best ride you can have.
