WTB: Flip-down cup holder for front door, any color

UPDATE: I was able to obtain the parts needed to repair this - thanks again, northNH! :gor-gor:

The flip-down cup holder in one of my cars won't stay up, and the pleather is peeling. I wanted to get a new replacement but can't seem to find them anywhere, they might be NLA / out of production? I believe these were sold as a dealer accessory, and also through some aftermarket companies as well (Performance Products used to sell them).

Just wondering if anyone has a good used one laying around? Any color is fine. I found a spare with a good cover but the plastic frame (that screws to the door) is busted. If I could get one with a good frame and sliding clips, I should be able to swap on my spare cover.

Alternately, if anyone knows of a source for new/NOS versions of this exact unit, please let me know - thanks!

I know they were still available as aftermarket a few years ago, but I forget the vendor who carried them. ECS Tuning, or Pelican, or one of those firms.

URO makes a nice one: https://www.autohausaz.com/pn/19272436-DH-BURL

I found both those options, but the ÜRO has a Made in Germany pricetag (hundred bucks for a cupholder? srsly?). The ecru thing is all plastic, has tan-colored back plate, and may not interchange with the cover I would need to install. I'm trying to locate items from the same manufacturer as what I have now.

Interesting story, on my 124 coupe, the same ones I think, the drivers door holder was also not staying up, this was about 7 years ago, or more.

I found an identifier on it somewhere, and after going on line I was able to reach the original plastic shell provider, and he directed me to the buyer he sold the shells too, who actually built the final product. After another long search of the old company name, (which isn't on the holder anywhere), I was finally able to locate the original final product builder/seller, I think he was in CA somewhere.
I reached him finally over the phone and we had quite the conversation. He was tickled pink that I was the 2nd person to track him down over the years looking for replacements, he was very proud of his old product, his brain child. He told me when the 124's were still being sold new, he saw the market and purchased large quantities of factory matching leather, and these shells, and he and his small team built and marketed these cup holders to Mercedes dealers across the country. He said he made a ton of money on them, but eventually the market slowed to the point that he sold off his stock of leather, and shells, and only had some samples left of other type cup holders they experimented with. Essentially, he was a retired business man that closed his small and limited company quite a while ago.

The cup holder in your picture looks exactly like mine, it matches factory interior leather because it is/was factory leather. Alas, he no longer can reproduce these simple and tasteful holders. I fixed mine, where the plastic rail had a small bump to snap it closed, on one side the bump was warn off an no longer kept it staying closed. I built the bump back up with a few small applications of two part epoxy, and it's working again.

If yours is the same type, there are no new replacements available, used ones maybe in the pick and pull yards.... Dave Hendy over in CT scraps older 124's, maybe Jimbo as well..... could ask them to be on the lookout.. I bet they are few and far between, west coast scrap yards may have higher odds of finding any used...

The Parchment covers are excellent.
One cover has both of the holes for the hinge pins broken, the other has one hole still intact.
The black adjustable cup holder/rear mount pieces and their hinge pins are both intact.

Nothing here unrepairable without patience and epoxy.
Would trade for another 6cyl Sportline steering box, a nice set of 17” wheels, or whathaveyou.

There is a stock factory cupholder that's used in the back (3rd seat) area of the S210 wagons from 1998-2000. Not sure if that's a suitable replacement or option, but...

There are color codes for it as well, so maybe there's a gray one? My interior is gray but the cupholders I have are black. Depending on the color code they look to range from $33 to $46 each.

These are the Fischer cup holders just in MB factory colors. You still can get them new here (no affiliation) and IMO it’s a pretty well made unit.

This Fischer unit was used on the R129 from the factory, I believe. I have had one installed on my motorcycle (purchased from Griot's Garage at the time) for almost 20 years, as a drink holder. It continues to be an excellent unit, well made, and operates well. I would recommend this cupholder to anyone.
