Anyone have one that would like to recover some costs and sell to me? I'm aware of the tools available and pricing. For knowledge sake, the MB tool will cost us about $270.00 from the Classic Center.

Re: Rear lower wheel carrier bushing tool

Drew, not sure if this is accurate, but Naperville shows it for $136, free shipping with the forum promo code. At that price, for the factory tool, I'd jump on it:

https://www.mboemparts.com/oem-parts/mercedes-benz-mounting-tool-202589004300

My maths indicate that $136 is actually dealer cost, so Naperville may not honor that price, but it's worth a try. Husker has it for $165. The price on this tool had been higher (over $200+ dealer cost) through about 2012, then it dropped considerably in mid-2013. It's gone up a little since then. The Classic center asking $260 is awfully high IMO. That's 2x dealer cost, 100% markup.

I have this, the generic brand, but it worked just fine on my 092 - and if it's the same for the 036 you're more than welcome to it. I'm downtown though, but am currently commuting to Kennesaw if that's better.

Rear Carrier Bushing removal tool Availability

Does anyone have a rear carrier bushing removal tool they are interested in renting or selling?

I should have grabbed one on ebay when they had the SG for $99.

I need to rework the rear suspension and may as well do it all at once.

Re: Rear Carrier Bushing removal tool Availability

7delta let me know for you to contact him and he will ship to you . reach out to him

You guys are all in the Kennesaw area? My dad is in Powder Springs / Marrietta...We gotta get a beer next time I am there.

Gents...anyone have this tool they could rent out to me? I'll gladly pay shipping both ways plus rental fee. I have been trying in vain to replace these joints/bushings for over 2 years now with no success. My homemade tool broke before it budged. I am lending the car out to my brother and want to finally fix this issue so he doesn't have to deal with it.

Thanks!

mercedesbenz911: Thought I could point you to a tool rental company which I used on two occasions for this particular tool but their website is gone. Quick search on Amazon shows least expensive at $128 (If you use AMEX and have a bunch of rewards points these can be applied to purchase price).

Regards,

Peter Weissman

Thanks gents...did not know it was still readily available new and reasonably priced. I could not find the Baum Tools unit but SIR Tools seems to be making them still. For anyone who comes across this post in the future, the part is Sir Tools M0085 and the cheapest price I found at $95 is here: http://www.tooldiscounter.com/ItemDisplay.cfm?lookup=SIRM0085

That's the one I bought, lent to Sheward, and worked like a charm on all cars. Very easy to operate, and only advice is to torque and hold under load until the bushing moves before really cranking on it.

Uh, guys, M0074 is for different bushings - appears to be for the 6-cyl (?) differential mount bushings in the subframe.

M0085 is for the rear wheel support joints (also $95), photo attached below:

I've purchased from ToolDiscounter in the past, keep in mind they do not stock anything - they will forward your order elsewhere and the item will be drop-shipped. What this means is, you may have your part in less than a week, or it might take a month if the warehouse doesn't have it in stock. They generally do have the lowest prices around if you're not in a hurry.

Okay, so looks like they won't be able to ship it for 3 weeks as Dave suggested.

Edit: Found another supplier out of Colorado who has it in stock and will ship today. Thanks all.

Final followup on the tool: I bought it from HandsonTools.com and they had it in stock for $90 + $13 shipping and sent it out same day.
