The aftermarket Bross grommets, made in Turkey and available on eBay, are cromulent substitutes for a damaged or missing OEM item. Last I checked there was USA-based seller offering them for $20, which included both the lower and upper piece, although usually only the upper needs replacement.
I bought a NOS set recently for $$$ for my brother’s E320 Cab and while going through some parts bins this weekend looking for a NLA W126 part, I saw a baggie with a set of antenna grommets. Was in a serious hurry and did not investigate if they are 08-98 and 07-98 or a different set. Will have to dig in again.
I was lucky to find a cheap NOS Set some days ago. It was a sealed parts bag that normally came with a the new Hirschmann Antenna. Both part numbers ( Hirschmann and MB ) can be found on both parts.
1 of them I purchased for my coupe build probably about a year and a half ago from dealer, the others were in the last few months from private sellers.

Are they the same Bross reproduction grommets that most other vendors are carrying (made in Turkey)? If so, they are pretty decent, and there's not much other choice except waiting for a NOS grommet to pop up for sale somewhere.
Looks like the grommets may be are available from MB again. MB Classic is showing "Available" and the Rev Parts dealers are allowing orders.
These grommets will fit 1988-1995 sedans, coupés, and cabrios with ball-top antennas. 1992-1994 models with threaded-top antennas need a different grommet kit.
124-827-08-98-7C45 = Upper grommet for ball-top antenna
124-827-07-98-7C45 = Lower grommet for ball-top antenna

I was told by one of the Husker dealers that 124-827-08-98-7C45 [upper grommet] is coming from Germany and that 124-827-07-98-7C45 [lower grommet] is readily available here in the U.S.

Received my new ball-top antenna grommets from Naperville today. Made in Germany too!
If anyone needs 'em, might as well buy now while they are still available. Most of the time the lower one is fine, but the upper deteriorates from age and UV exposure. ~$12 each at Napsterville (link).
wow! Good to see parts coming back into stock. I wonder if this is a new production batch or maybe they found a stash somewhere in Germany? Hopefully this trend continues with other, hard to find parts.
Hey Everyone,
Today, I ordered the upper and lower seals for my '87 300D at my local MB dealership in NC. They seem to have them available in the NJ warehouse. The part numbers for my specific VIN were 124-827-0698 for the lower seal and 124-827-0598 for the upper seal. I also checked the MB Classic Center website, which shows these parts are indeed available for $12.18 each. I'll keep you guys posted once I receive them. Happy Thanksgiving!
The seals came in today. As you can see they are exact fit for my 87 300D. I also happened to find a pair of the aftermarket that came with the car I just bought recently and I think I found the reason why those wouldn’t fit. They look like they are for later model w124 with different type of antenna and not for an 87 model. The ones I got from MB sit perfect and make it look complete!
Luckily I was able to get my hands on them as most parts are NLA.
Nice work! You are correct, the aftermarket parts are for later models with angled antennas. Early 124 had vertical antennas with different / shorter / smaller grommet pieces as seen in your pictures.
