Looks like a tunk spoiler and some other serious cheese has been tacked onto it.
@cascade, perhaps this could be a candidate for a PunchList?

This 1993 Mercedes-Benz 400E was delivered new in Illinois where it remained until relocating to Florida in February 2024 by the current seller. The body is finished in Black (040) with matching lower body cladding. An AMG-style body kit has been installed featuring both front and rear bumpers, fog lights, side skirts, and trunk spoiler. Extended fender flares are installed on all four corners. The front grille and hood emblem have been painted black to match the paint. Various rock chips are visible on the bumpers.
Staggered 18" AMG Monoblock wheels are fitted with a set of Hankook Ventus V12 evo 2 tires measuring 225/40 up front and 245/35 in the rear with 2023 date codes. The seller notes that all four brake pads were replaced within the past two months along with a brake fluid flush and the installation of new H&R springs and Bilstein shocks.

A digital outside temperature sensor is mounted at the bottom of the cluster and the "bulb out" indicator illuminates when the lights are on. The six-digit odometer shows just over 148k miles.

The MB Market Insights
The W124 is a bonafide classic in enthusiast circles but the V8-powered 400E has been consistently underrated next to its Porsche-built big brother the 500E. These 8-cylinder sedans provide power, comfort and legendary reliability while sporting a sacco-designed suit that fits the bill. This example pays tribute to the legendary AMG Hammer with an AMG-style body kit and updated suspension. While AMG Hammers are now unobtanium for many due to soaring prices and collectibility. For those wanting a driver spec V8 W124 that still has that AMG look and can be driven daily, this 400E surely fits the bill. In terms of value proposition, this may be the most bang for your buck for any premerger AMG enthusiast that isn't trying to break the bank.
