R129 models with V8/V12 engines after 1992 (129.066) have a larger 210mm "reinforced" differential that does not fit the W124; at least not without modifications.
There are some models with 3.69 gears in the proper 210mm housing, looks like the early 129.063 (300SL/SL320) with optional ASR may swap in.
