500E LSD differential

Hi everyone hope everyone is safe and healthy I have a question I saw a 400e today at the junkyard and wanted if it's possible to get the information on the differential by the win number the information I need is if this differential is LSD or not .
I looked at the instrument cluster and didn't see the ESP light there.
Thanks

No W124 with M119 engine had LSD (limited-slip differential) from the factory. None.

ASR traction control was optional on the 400E420 and standard on all E500E.

ESP was not introduced until after the 124 chassis ended production, and was never offered on any 124.

So... if you are looking for LSD, a junkyard car won't have it. And if you are looking for an ASR differential from a 400E, if the car doesn't have the extra warning light in the speedo, it probably doesn't have it (but the definite proof is checking for the ASR pump in the engine compartment, in case the speedo is not original). Or, you can use the VIN and check the datacard to see if an .034 has ASR, option code 471..

Sorry I forgot to add a photo of win
Also can someone tell me how different is the transmission from 500E to 400E ?

Thanks Gsxr. About the speedo maybe it was changed I pulled out the LH module and it shows that it's 4.2 V8 was the LH on 400E same as E420 ?

VIN WDBEA34E3NB747807 does not have optional ASR.

400E transmission has FGS valve body. 500E has SGS valve body. Otherwise they are basically the same.

:mushroom:
So I could take this transmission and just swap with mine with no problem? My transmission has no reverse and the guy at the junkyard has a lift I asked him if I could use the lift he said ok so I'm thinking to take my car there and change the transmission

Different LH modules too. LH module needs to match engine displacement.

The transmission is plug+play. However do you have any idea if the junkyard transmission is any good? First thing is to drop the pan and check for red fluid (not brown!) and no massive amounts of debris in the pan. You can also check the last 6 digits of the trans serial to see if it matches the datacard, if so, the trans is original and probably never rebuilt. With 200kmi that's a gamble, and a LOT of work...

Thanks Gsxr that is what I'll do.

This is the LH I removed from 400E

Yep, that's a 92 400E LH module allright. Someone with a 93-95 400E420 may want it. You can do a quick test in a 500E, plug it in and start the engine, see if the fuel pump relay clicks. If so, the module needs the capacitors replaced.

I also have this one I think this one came of 94 E420

Can I test it in 94 E500 ? Or it has to be 500E

Gsxr is there any benefit from non ASR differential ?does it work same as ASR diff
No benefit, and they are not compatible. Non-ASR has a single speed sensor at the input shaft. ASR has 2 speed sensors, one at each output shaft. Internally they are the same. ASR is an electronic system.

You can test any M119 LH module in any car with M119 engine and LH injection, any year.
