Cabin air filter?

Without pulling the trim underneath the windshield, can y’all tell me if my whip (built 6/1992) has the cabin filters by looking at my vin - WDBEA36E8NB804273.
Terry is correct. The cabin filter was only on facelift models (E500, USA model year 1994) for North America.

Steve, sorry, no filter on your late '92 build...

:tumble:

Just came across these oId postings (above). I find it very confusing .

My 036 Ltd (produced in March 1994) has definitely a cabin filter (for sure not retro-fitted), but no 305 code on its datacard. Actually, a lot of first quarter 1994 produced units (of the 951 Ltd productions of which I keep a private file) do (equally) not show the 305 code, whereas a lot (if not most) of later 1994 produced units do specify the 305 code on their datacards.

Frankly, I stopped looking for any logic behind it quite some time ago... @036 would probably say something like: oh, don't bother, that's just a very Germanic thing ;)

I think it's safe to say that all facelift / E500 / MOPF2 builds do have dust filter, full stop. This also means all 951 Limiteds have the dust filter. However, per @AdamCabrio's post above, these may or may not show code 305/305A (which is odd, but I'm going with the Germanic explanation).

Pre-facelift / 500E / MOPF1 should only have a dust filter if code 305/305A is present on the datacard. There were ZERO of these imported to North America.

:gsxrepc:

I've never heard of a MOPF1 car with dust filter, ever. AFAIK the dust filter first became available with MOPF2, around June 1993 production.

Is there any evidence of a MOPF1 car from the factory with the dust filter?

Both those VIN's are mid-1992 production, well before MOPF2. There is not a specific option code in the EPC datacard indicating dust filter. [Edit: I don't know where code 305A would appear - on a build sheet for the car perhaps?]

:scratchchin:
My 1993 car does not have a cabin filter :( lol
