Considering buying a spare differential

I have a question about an E500E differential
I can buy one which is used from new to 25k miles and then taken of a car and stored for years.

What is your opinion about buying and storing such a spare on the long run ?
Good investment ?

I would not invest in it unless it was ridiculously inexpensive. Although seals may eventually begin to weep I have never heard of any owners having problems with differentials at any mileage.

As Drew said, if cheap enough, why not? But diffs are a rare failure, so I wouldn't invest a lot if it will sit on the shelf.

Now if you want a spare to build into LSD with Quaife or Wavetrac, that's a different story. Build one, keep the other stock to swap back in later if desired.
