Drivers seat arm rest w/flip top

It was long time ago.
But I have found a solution.
That strut which you can buy in Germany or Poland can be loaded if the pressure falls. Ventil is on other side which does not need to be modified. Other side needs modification. Must be grinded and microwelded. Effect ist OK. Strut works as you can see on the short clip. Squeaks a little but probably this will cease in time.

I know this is a very old post and topic but I was looking at some R129 parts on one of unofficial EPCs and noticed this
129 066 500SL / AMG 500SL 60 Covering -Ashtray and storage box bottom - Part 104
Its A000 980 7564 and described as a spring Now it may be NLA, it may cost a fortune, it may not fit anyway
but I would be interested to know. I have an early R129 and I dont think its on mine ( or its lost pressure ) so it
may be 96 cars onwards

My R129 is a 95 SL500, US spec, dealership few years ago told me that "spring" was temporary unavailable, so I replaced it with Stabilus SG403030, another alternative was made by Atlas, don't remember their part number though...

Looks massive , I had never seen one in person I was hoping they had used the same for both applications.
I will have to look on my R129 to see if it is there and in fact needs replacing

Is that part still out there floating around im reskining my s124 center console and found the same thing everyone is talking about.

Has anyone tried this out from this website i looked up the last part number that was “updated” from stabilus that had to be gently modified this one looks to be the same but cheaper alternative. Does anyone have any experience with this website or shall i be the guinea pig.

Nice find! It does look like a Stabilus clone, and will need the same modifications (grinding).

"Note from a customer: It didn't fit right away, though. The mounting eye on the piston rod is screwed on and not welded on as it was originally. This means that the thick part where the rod is screwed in locks onto the panel. I managed to do it anyway by modifying the gas spring and panel. Basically, it works well. The force is right."

Shipping is a flat €27 for smaller quantities, total ~€52 for one shock, about $57 USD at current exchange rates. I'm curious what the quality is like on the clone.
