Hi Roger,

Yes already in progress, I am cooperating with the organizers of a major event to have us as part of their show. Summer 2018

This time I will be more decisive, this is a non-profit and free to attend meeting which I am organizing as a contribution to the international W124 500 community. Organizing such meetings is a lot of work and cost. I do understand that some were concerned about wither the organizer will be there (as in the case of 2013 and 2014 meeting), and I do realize that the actions of some of the participants of the 2014 meeting and their attempt to hijack the event and to turn it into a profit/commercial activity has effected the event reputation. But this now behind us, I am here and I will make sure everything goes well.

The 2016 meeting in the UK was part of the Mercedes-Benz Club UK main annual event (National concours d'elegance), a really nice meeting but we did not have participants from mainland Europe due to the situation on the borders.
The 2017 meeting I canceled due to low number of confirmed participants, unfortunate because it was planned at the nurburgring. On the bright side it was a busy summer for me with many events and new trophies ;) .

Now that everyone knows who we are, its time to get to work. You want a big W124036 meeting ? lets see a participants list with names and you don't have to worry about the rest.. Venue, activity, hotel with discount, restaurants.. I will take care of it and I welcome anyone who wishes to help

Ahmad

Hi Ahmad,

If a success is to be made of a 2018 meet, what we all need URGENTLY is the proposed date/duration! Most of us are busy guys, with not only work but also private commitments - and these generally have to come before any chance of getting to a 124036 meet-up! I think we're all pretty flexible on destination, content etc., but most important is a date for us to put in our diaries!

Over to you, Ahmad!

If you allow 034’s on this gathering, I’ll join!

Thomas, I personally Think, the 124 034 would be nice to see and it would help making the gathering more
"substanziell" in numbers. Better to see 40? 036/034-s than maybe only 15-20 036-s only.

The interest even from a 034 owner should equal that of the "lucky" 036 owner. They have more in connon
than what divide, and many 500E owners may have gotten from the 034, maybe even the 300E variants.

Practically the same DNA, and they would not shame the 036, no, I like the ide'a, welcome for my sake.

Hello Thomas,

I welcomed the idea of a 034, but unfortunately in 2013 I allowed an E420 to attend then I got a lot of criticism for it!

How about your dad's 500E? its worth the trip

Well, now it's FIVE years back in time and the 034 is not a common "bird" to see each and every day, either.
Try find a very good 034 if the 036 price tag is too much, it woun't be easy...

In fact it's easier to find a good 036, they've been taken better care of.

Ahmad, I'd love to join with he 500E but it will not be in shape in time for the event. Let me know if my 034 is welcome, and I'll join!

Offcourse you can, you just say "jag tar kön" i.e I take the back of the queue as oposed to I lead the queue wich is where
the 036es go. I'd love to go in a row of 400/500E420/500 from Scandinavia

ps easier it may be, nowadays but much much prizier as we all know, yeah even the 034s

As much as we all love to see this, you guys have been a little disappointing in the past few years :(
Where is everyone?? the Brabus 6.5 (230E), the E60LTD, the 500E 6.0, yellow 500E....

Maybe Thomas and I should spread the Word here in Scandinavia, especially Thomas, who has a lot of? MB friends...

The thing is, I don’t have a lot of Mercedes friends, but I’ll spread the word when we have a date. Most of my friends can’t understand why I’m spending time and money on an old Mercedes. They’re not normal any of them. :)

IIRC Johan H (who happens to be my friend :)) went to the last GTG. I’ll ask him unless he misses the thread here. He’s got the beautiful Rozenholz with Brazil leather 036. I love that color combo, and not just because it’s rare. It’s truly a stunning 500E.

As I am, just a guy who's intentions are good, oh Lord don't let me be, missunderstood...
yeah that MB thing, so thorough that you can't get your head around, to be one of few, a real Enthusiast

I would love to go..but its soooo far away ..and takes alooot of planning :( and im not good at that....even super expensive to go that far by car...,.,but i would LOVE to go to this GTG.

I hear you on the distance Stefan, but the planning for the trip is not that bad. Book hotel, bring moneys, clothes and off you go. But it needs to fit with everything at home too ofc. I'd love to see your Black Beauty!

A real to do bucket list, hope to see YOU all.

of course ..some people have even a longer drive..but it doesnt change the fact that for "me at least"...its aaa long trip..involving ferry, and depending where it is..a two days trip .
But it would be so awesome if it was doable..and even if it was a bit further up in Germany..say Hamburg for an example.Would make a huge difference

But i will definetly consider this trip

If you drive through Denmark (a long part of the highway is 130 km/h limit) and take the Gedser - Rostock ferry, it’s only €50 circa, and I can arrange a very good discount on the bridge from Sweden to Denmark, 50% off. It beats sitting on the dreary Trelleborg - Travemünde ferry for hours. That totals around €150 in ferrys and bridges both ways. From Rostock it’s 8 hours of Autobahn fun to Stuttgart!

Maybe you can stay over in our guestroom, and you’ll save on hotel halfway too! Stavanger - Malmö is a long 12 hour drive though. :)

heheheh thank you for suggestion..but driving to Malmø is quite a longer drive than needed.hehe..i checked the map stuff..and it calculated 18 hours of driving..from my hometown..to stuttgart..so its pretty hefty :)

It would be awesome to enjoy 8 hours of Autobahn fun! Wish I could. You Europeans with your excellent highway system...i'm jealous.

Thomas, Malmö seems to be where we from Scandinavia "gather our strength" and from there we go as a collective unity.
We simply follow that E420 of Yours, as it seems you have the experience, that would be a Mighty entrance to Germany...

8-10h off Traffic & construction.... Our System is close to collapse in Germany.. only few spots without speedlimit! No fun anymore!

Yes the Autobahn is not what it used to be, but at least there are parts without speed limit. And roadside curry würst!! :)

It’s a good starting point to go to mainland Europe! That would be awesome with a caravan of nice cars heading for Das Vaterland.

I’ve done this drive southbound to Europe many times, Italy, France, Belgium, Holland, Spain, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Switzerland even Luxembourg and probably more.

So I’d say I’m reasonably comfortable with what to we need to know. Germany do have some rules that’s not so common in other countries that’s good to keep in mind. For example that it’s illegal to run out of fuel on the Autobahn, since it counts as an unnecessary stop, and those are verboten. Certain things that you must have in your car etc.

It’s a nice feeling when you get pulled over and the polizei expect to find something wrong with our tourist vehicles and equipment, and they don’t. They’re usually very friendly, but strict!

Ahmad&Thomas, let's hope there are more than us few, interested in this coming event, there must be many
thinking in the way, we are?

The starting Point to mainland Europa... yes that is one thing I envy you,, Scanias, not
the admired Truck wich is built in my home Town, You as a people, next door
to the Danes.

I am already participating in a number of shows in Europe starting from the spring of 2018. We will have a deadline set for the 2018 meeting, if not enough participants then it will be canceled. But do keep in mind that the participant list only shows forum members and not other participants.

Oh yes sure hope so... and there must be one or two "closet lurker" around here that need to come out.
So please do, aren't you interested to be a part with your vehicle?

WHAT??? I was with both events and did the organizing in 2015 with Jelmer (and Bernard).... Both meets were fantastic! These was no attemp to "hijack" the event and turn it into a profit/commercial activity... LOL! No money was ever collected.
