Jack Port Cover

Hi All, I was recently washing my car and the front passenger side front jack port cover fell off when I ran a towel over it drying the car. It looks like the clips may have deteriorated and broken off at some point and I have no idea what was holding it on. Ironically I just drove my car back to DC from Blue Ridge MB and it stayed on for the entire trip so I really lucked out that I at least still have the part and it's not lying by the side of the road somewhere. This part is unfortunately NLA. Does anyone know id there is someone out there making reproductions and if so where I can get one? Or any suggestions for other options to fix it would be greatly appreciated.

PS: Jono and the crew at Blue ridge MB did a great job and the car is running better than ever and looking fabulous! I've included a beauty shot just because.

If you look in the lower right corner of the rectangular hole (pic) you will see a little tab. That holds it on, but it looks like your cover cracked and allowed the tab to slide out.

That color blue looks amazing. :buggin:

The covers should have 4 tabs. Two on top which are not meant to flex or pry out, and one on each side which are meant to flex and pry in/out. I can't quite tell from the photo but it looks like all four might be broken?

Someone reported that standard 124 covers can be modified to fit the 500E rockers, I'd look into that. The bigger hassle (read: expense) will be getting it painted to match. I'd almost consider using non-permanent adhesive to stick it back in place. Or using epoxy to fabricate some tabs on the back side...

:scratchchin:

I would recommend adhesive putty that can be removed when the cover needs to be removed. This will allow re-use of the painted cover.

You are correct that the covers are NLA from MB. A good candidate for a 3D printer......

:update:

Oops ... a company in Germany is reproducing these already, available on eBay:

A quick search of the forum I did for "jack hole cover", turned this thread up.

I might try the adhesive putty and see if that works, any recommendation on the brand or type?

Shane, you also have a broken loop that the check strap goes through. The strap doesn't secure the cover to the car (my bad), but it keeps you from losing the cover on the side of the road in the event it comes loose.
