Been doing more preventative maintenance. Replaced the three shift solenoids..and the lock up solenoid....and pleasantly replacing the oil and filter once more
I replace the oil so often..that any contaminants will not be able to stay in there for long enough to cause any damage "Laughs" ...BUT....I will get it done
hehe well. They were never causing any issues...so it was really just a part of my preventative maintenance plan. But initially i was just planning on replacing the torque converter lockup solenoid cause i know these can fail "quite often"..and also i experienced some unreliable shifting tendencies from time to time...but that seems to have been cured with the new throttle body i replaced earlier...i Also mentioned it in the throttle body video Eitherway.... i got carried away in my own little bubble..so i ended up getting hold of the shift solenoids aswell. The modulating pressure solenoids were abit to expensive to be replaced just for the fun of it So....yes...it was indeed some Lowmania action going on there
hey there mister.Thank you sooo much for checking it out..and yes...it is indeed a Cosworth.it is a 1987 model...Ford sierra Rs Cosworth..with some Rs500 spicy bits..to make it abit more "complete" ..both inside..and outside im glad you like it
Nice rims, yes the OZ stickers where original on the lips of the rims when new.
Have a similar rim (made for Thorsten's company by compomotive-the exact DTM shape replica) since a few years waiting in the basement. Also my dtm cars will get those, but as center lock version of course.
Thaaaank you soooo much my friend.for kind words. And happy new year to you toooo
Yes its getting there for sure these days.I really enjoy this car and "resto" work.Very relaxing to be honest
heheh..thank you soo much for letting me "keep my title" I may not own a 124036 these days...but i do love all you guys on this forum..and it just feels like home ...so yes....i am working hard to still fit in amongst you crazy 036 people And i hope i can still be allowed to bring some nerdiness to the forum..and also still beeing able to pick up knowledge from this forum.
Just got my car back from windshield replacement at the dealer.
It was an insurance "case"as a rock hit the window mid season last year..but i did not want to replace the window because the damage was so little. But here before i took the car into storage mode..i was out for a drive..and suddenly i heard a crack..and i noticed the windshield had a crack..and the crack had started in the damaged area where the stone hit the windshield
So...how it works with the insurance here in Norway ,,and with the type of insurance i have..is that you get stuff like this covered...but you have to pay a "fee"...a percentage....And up til now...if you were in the "buisness"...some goodwill was given to us ,,,meaning we often got spared of having to pay the fee.But now..the rules have tightened..and even "i " have to pay the fee...
So now that i had to pay a fee eitherway..i did not want to take the car to the independant window shop...i wanted to take it to the dealer..to have a genuine Mercedes window put into the car
Also a new top window trim was installed
And by the look at the one picture..the guys at the dealer..was happy to have a "good ol" w210 to work on The guy in the one picture..is the "twin" that i bought my ex 190e 2.5-16 of....and the guy replacing the windshield on my car...is his brother
Was also refreshing to see that there was no rust on the underside of the windshield..and that the one windshield taken off was the original one.
Here are some pictures in no particular order...,not that interesting i know..but at least its something
Yes that sure is one rust free w210! Here If you listen carefully you can hear a w210 rust.
I had a really nice w210 in a limited purple colour a number of years back. It was a great car but a poorly painted and assembled car which put me off them unless finding an example like yours
I love a new windshield. You usually don't think about the difference in clarity until you are looking through a new one. This time of year with the blinding orb low in the sky it's worst. Both the 036s have new ones. My truck is next.

I definetly agree with you.Even when the windshield looks to be in great condition..with only minor minor minor minor "sandblasting"....you really dont notice how bad it is..until you get a fresh windscreen in there. Makes the car feel like a new one to be honest
So......my Ford Sierra Cosworth is sold..and i got a new icon to fiddle around with.
This time around..one of my alltime favourite rally cars from the late 90"s..and early 2000"s....The Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 6 Tommi Makinen Edition.
You are welcome to check out my video
Hopefully i got some more w210 E50 Amg videos coming soon also I hope you all are doing good.

Totally agree on new windshields making the whole car feel new. I have spent many hours polishing my windshield and though greatly relieved of mineral stains, wiper blade streaks and fine abrasions , the granular divots that remain will literally pop in the right lighting and make your efforts seem fairly minimal.
On topic of new windshields, is the White Daimler Benz sticker on the lower right quad of the US version available as an replacement item? Being Type A(naL) owner, I would like to add that to mine but has been unobtanium from my searches to date. Thanks

The period-correct decal is only available as an aftermarket reproduction. There are some good ones available, a few years ago @a777fan had a source with accurate replicas. The 1990's decal should be "A MERCEDES-BENZ product" with Daimler signature and (IIRC) square decal corners, not rounded.
MB only sells different ones now. Don't order by part number, there's a different version with the same part number, you'll receive the wrong one. MB should never have re-used the p/n...

The Daimler-Benz Product sticker is not correct for and was never used on the E500E cars. It was used on the R107 up to the 1990 model year, and the W/C126 up until the end of the 1991 model year.
The correct sticker that was used with all E500E models was the "Mercedes-Benz Product" sticker. Repops of this sticker are available and are fairly inexpensive.
The PO of my vehicle had the windshield replaced at some point, and I was therefore missing my rectangular 'a MERCEDES-BENZ product' decal. As has been discussed here many times before, the correct stickers are no longer available from MB. There is a replica available on ebay, but these are a...
Here are photographs of most (if not) all factory stickers on the 500E / E500. Individual, special-model and non-US cars may have different stickers. This is from a typical US-spec 1994 model car. Hope this helps people in their quest for the factory stickers and/or in reproducing the stickers...
Sorry I was in a C126 frame of mind as I go back and forth between the two sections and the pic that @gsxr posted looks very close if not exactly what I have in mind. Appreciate the info.
Heeeeeeeyy Teerrryyyy
Thank you sooo much . Much apreaciated. i have to agree..they are coming along nicely i have to say...and still..i am most proud of my Amg ..as it is the cleanest,,and i spent so much time doing stuff to make this car " perfect" where you do not lay your eyes..in a way . So yes..the Lancer Evo 6 Tommi Makinen Edition is a far more special car..and draws ridicilously amounts of attention...but again..the Amg is the car i am most proud of.The same as when i won the Best 90s car here at the same show..back in 2018..with my 500e...that also made me super proud. But like i wrote in the video..i think the coolest thing is to talk to youngsters, and see them enjoy, and react to both the Lancer evo6 ..and a w210...which is to their surprise ,in such a good condition..And also to get to talk to alot of other people with tons of knowledge...that is worth more than the trophies presented to me.But enough babble.Thank you so much. And i am hoping you are doing good, mister Terry
Heyyy people

Here is another video, with some w210 stuff.I hope you like it .Though it is nothing new to any of you what i am going to show you here..but i wanted to put it out here for you to see

Heyyy mister S.I do take that as a compliment,,.and i hope the video does not fail At least its not super long of a video..so i dont ruin that many minutes of your life " giggles" I hope you are doing good these days, mister
Also i have done quite alot to the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 6 Tommi Makinen Edition these days.
I have started the dreaded underside resto..where alot of underseal had to come off..as i want the car to be " like factory new".Im on the way for sure..but still a long way until finished...if one can consider an old car to be ever " finished"
I hope you like the pics
First one here is to show how it looked like before..overall
Here i got a paint shop dude,to come in at my shop..to shoot the color on the underside of the car..so i can do paint touch up work on the underside.I want to preserve and maintain as much as possible of the original paint on the underside.
Grinded down some surface rust..and treated it with epoxy primer..before toucing it up with the custom paint i got made.
