Radio Head Unit and Wiring Identification

Gentlemen,

i wonder if someone could look at the attached pictures and tell me what Head Unit I have installed and what is the snakes honeymoon in the boot.

I'm not in to ICE upgrades, provided it works and sounds reasonable thats OK for me. Looks like a PO had different ideas judging by the pink wiring.

The speakers all look standard front and rear. No door speakers.

Car is 1992.

The MB classic is the basic low end radio that was available on the W202 and W210 cars in the mid 90s,

From the CD wiring, this is a 91-92 car, which had the original system gutted, and the classic unit installed.
The pink stuff is RCA wires, it probably had a different (high end) system in its life time that was also removed. before the cheap MB classic was installed, thus you end up with all this mess

Was this car rear ended? I see weld marks.

So not much to be lost taking that head unit out and putting in something that can play CD's and an Ipod connection. Might just put it back as Original, probably can get one fairly easily.

Yes there are signs of being rear ended...well spotted. That also explains the re-spray and spare boot lid I got as part of the sale.

Hi Jim,

The frame can be straightened if this was a light to medium crash. But weld marks indicate a severe damage that required the whole wheel well section to be cut out, also concerning is the fact that the welded area was not sealed and rust proofed (poor repair quality). further pictures will give as a better idea of the extent of damage.

Which 500E is that? Gulf area ?
