500E Rear carrier

Can you elaborate on what specific parts you want to swap? By "carrier" do you mean differential, or the rear wheel carrier that the wheel hub presses into?

Thanks . I hit a curb and broke off the a arm mount. Can I change out the entire unit and put my gears in . Do they have the same axels...and brakes

Sorry, I'm still confused - any chance you can post a photo of the damaged items?

Typically if the rear wheel hits a curb, you need the rear wheel carrier, which contains the rear wheel hub, brake rotor, and has all 5 suspension links attach to it. This particular part could be borrowed from a 300E, preferably a late one with M104 engine to get the larger dust shield. You'd need to use the 500E brake rotor though.

The axle shaft and differential with gears are usually not damaged. If for any reason you need to replace the axles or differential, NO, the 6-cyl parts are different.

Photo below of the back side of the rear wheel carrier, where the 5 links attach... this is what usually is damaged with a curb hit:

Haven't heard the term a-arm in a while. Pretty sure he's referring to LCA. I'm guessing the LCA snapped at the wheel carrier mount.

I did this too, but lucked out as the tie rod and thrust arm fell on the sword for the wheel carrier. I thanked them for their service as it lead to a full 8 link replacement (carrier bearing had already been done).

Ugh. Looks like you tore off part of the subframe bracket. The ONLY donor has to be a W124.034 (400E/E420) or E500E. The subframes are reinforced on the V8 models.

Wow.

That doesn't look like a curb run. That's more like an oversteer at speed sliding into the curb close to perpendicular!

HELP ok I purchased a 400 E for the rear diff cradle c v axels are smaller looking for a driver's c v axel any idea what I can take one out of that will cross over. Thanks Randy

Non-ASR models of 400E have smaller diameter axle shafts.
