What is the license plate panel difference?

Drew is correct -- as far as I know, any license plate panel (US or plate delete) for a W124 front should fit any E500E or 400E/E420. Only difference would be the color/finish, but as far as I know the part will physically fit/bolt up.
Remember that pre-facelift 500Es had a black impact strip on the bumper. The facelift cars had the impact strip painted bumper color (if I remember correctly). That's the way my own car has always been, anyway.

Memory fades, but I believe this is the panel I removed from my 400E pick a part operation a couple years ago. I'll have to check my 500E plate's part number sometime & report my findings & comparisons.
