Hellooo there people :)
Maybe im posting this in the wrong section, but im kinda missing a thread with pictures of w124 e500e"s with different "non standard" wheels, even standard wheels.

My main reason, besides that i love seeing different wheels on these cars, is that im personally on the hunt for wheels for my 1992 500e,and would be nice to see the variety of cars and wheels out there:)
Hope this is allright for the admins. And im hoping to see all of you posting your pics :)Would be awesome to see some info about the wheels aswell (dimensions and offsets)

I can start with my car ,with current wheels 17 inch 8 1/4 inch Evo"s.Non diamond cut versions.

Nice lookin :)by the way...do you dragrace this car?or..does it just look like its the same car as on your avatar? :)

18x8.5 all around, Hartmann Replica of Mercedes Alshain Wheel, ET35, no spacers (NLA); RennTech Front Swaybar and Rear Subframe Mod, Koni Adjustable Sport Front Struts, not sure about rears (not clear what was included from RennTech in the "Rear Subframe Mod"), but may go with Limited or AMG Springs if I can find them (per GSXR advice).

I don't race it but certainly the prior owners did. Car did the 1998 Michelin Car and Driver One Lap of America as one of two RennTech entrants, placed 4th in the Luxury Car Class.

Cheers and Happy Hunting,

maw

My car currently is equipped with Mercedes Segin wheels in "diamond cut" finish from the CL600 Biturbo C215. They only look good when perfectly cleaned, so you need to clean them every week or so with stock brake pads that produce dust.

On this first picture the car is equipped with SLS still in place, H&R 500E lowering springs front and rear, front and rear #1 Rubber pads.:
20140108_150553_resizeHD.jpg
On this second picture it has the SLS disabled already, it has Front 500E specific H&R Lowering springs with #1 rubber pads and rear it has E420 H&R Lowering springs -35mm with the largest pads (IIRC #4? or rather #3?). On this picture fuel tank is almost empty. So when its full or 2 people sit in the back it gets a bit lower. Drives beautifully with some Sport-Shocks in the rear.:

On this third picture i replaced #1 Front rubbers with #3 front rubbers, which raised the suspension approx 10-15mm. I like it mch more, it was so deep up front before that i had trouble entering Bernards yard at the this years meet - as the only 500E lol.:

Karl,

I have always liked these wheels and have seen them on one other 500E. They were actually made for W140's correct??? Assuming that is the case are you running spacers on them and if so do you mind letting me know what size they are? Same story with the tire size you ran with them as they look perfect. Just in case I ever need to know... ;-)

PS: Where the hell is Captruff with this thread? He probably has enough pictures of his 500E with different wheels on it to crash Gerry's server.

I agree but impossible to find.

Nahh.... Those things aren't too hard to find Ken (well at least compared to SL 2 Piece). Actually you should try and find a set for your R230. I think those even look even on the 230 than they do on a 219. In fact they were an option on I believe the MY '05 & '06 SL55's

This was my R230 on a set:

It did take me quite a while to find mine back in 2013. Then another year to pick up a second set!! Jeff's bad habits are rubbing off on me, lol...

:apl:

I have looked for those wheels numerous times with no luck. I need another set of wheels like a hole in the head.

Ohh come on Ken.... Captruff and I will hunt down a set of those for you by the end of the week.

I simply didn't know enough about wheels at the time to know they would fit. I did consider the AMG VI 2-piece for my S55 though...http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/mercedes_alloy_wheels/s_class_w220_alloys/19_amg_vi_2pc_wheel_387

I think that wheel is just sick and wrong!!!

maw
Wow those are even pretty rare in 18" version for the W211. I'm pretty sure they only came on 63's with the P30 performance package. With a 221 part number I am assuming those 19's were also rare option for S65's and maybe 63's??? Baller...

Is it just my perception or are your tyres too small?

Pics are done by illusionist.... :D. They are 18" and tires 225/40, 245/35. Actually the car is "a bit too high", I mean the previous owner has "tuned" the car with wrong model springs and also shock absorbers (I guess rear solution is from W124 300TE model). I ´ll replace those with right ones next year (SLS system);)
Some cement or sand bags in the trunk would help today :p

When we had the DC GTG, Jeff indicated Neez would do a run if 5 people wanted sets. Looks like only a couple more need to raise their hands.

Robert

Easier said than done, especially when price comes up.

IIRC, the cost was near obscene levels (>$4k/set?). Although I would absolutely love a set, most likely I couldn't afford 'em. I believe these are very lightweight as well, near Monolite levels?

:apl:

I don't believe they are that light, Dave. I'm guessing around 24 pounds for an 18 x 9.

My memory could be off, Glen. I thought they were ±20 pounds but perhaps I just wanted them to be that light because they looked so damned good!! Wonder if Jeff ever put them on a scale?
