Nice project. What's that, a C5 RS6 engine in an S6 Wagon, circa '03? How's the driveability? That's a lot of engine out in front of the front axle. Does the extra weight out back in the wagon help balance it out?

maw

Aha, so you're in Europe. That's another one we didn't get in the USA. We had to either settle for the 4.2 in the Allroad or S4 Avant, or go Frankenstein with a 2.7 Biturbo -- either way, shy of 400hp. I've been pushing the C5 Allroad 4.2 around in the snow for years, with Hotchkis and APR tune.

Cheers,

maw

Man, this is starting to remind me of that other 500E resto on the Russian MB board. They stripped the car to nothing and built it all back up with new parts. Can't imagine the cost of all those parts, SayHey, but mad props to you for investing in what will undoubtedly be a fine specimen when you're finished. That color is awesome.

Yes, this thread was an inspiration to start my project, although some things i will try to do better)

Where in the world did you find that instrument cluster and wood panel?

drew

We have some left here in Russia)

And thanks everyone for support!

And the most interesting thing -

Sorry just curious , what is that switch on the wood panel for ? and if that On Board Computer cluster specific for E500E? i saw some floating around on ebay .de , but they read 240 KM top speed , and how hard is it to install it? (will i need additional harnesses, sensors? ) Thank you , for posting this .

The switches are to control the trip computer. The computer is an option that was available for various W124 models, not specific ONLY to the E500E.

Thank you Gerryvz , pretty sure i will need additional harnesses and sensors to install that right ? can you please direct me to where i can do my research to find all the necessary parts that needed ? , Thank you again in advance.

Yes, you need the entire system to make it work. Primary items are the gauge cluster, switch/buttons, and wiring harness. Some stuff probably NLA (or crazy expensive) new, only way you'd get this is trolling European salvage yards and eBay worldwide.

:tejas:

A task for Ron500e me thinks! :p He would track down parts in Zimbabwe if he has to.

thank you sir , and yes wow they are expensive , I wonder if the system will work with US spec ( mileage , Fahrenheit) instead km and celcius

New parts!

клево, очень нравится. Уже все разобрал для покраски? А снизу тоже против коровье покрытие снял или нет? внутри на потолке алакантара будет?

I get a woody every time I look at this thread. I love the color. If I was buying a new one that would be my color choice.

:omg:

what Setrab part number did you use?

Looks like it is a 10 row Series 6; https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productdetails.asp?RecID=8942
(that installation instruction is prolly a 13 row Series 6)

I have a 25 row Series 6 on my SuperMerc located inside the right side bumper corner, it's connected in serie with the oil filter housing ports.

SayHay - keep in mind it is close to no air circulation in that location. You should make an air duct from the grid in the bumper to get some airflow, plus some vent holes in the plastic fender lining for air escape. The downside is that dirt from the wheel can clog up the cooler over time, dependent on how the vent holes in the fender lining is made.
