Aftermarket Ignition Parts

New member here, picking up a very neglected '92 400E soon and I'm just starting to plan for the upcoming slew of deferred maintenance it will need. For some items I am fine with getting the genuine MB parts, but ultimately I am just trying to make a drivable car out of this 400E so budget alternatives will needed where possible. I usually buy from FCP Euro, Pelican Parts and RockAuto. What are the good aftermarket alternatives for the ignition system that will last? I see Bosch still makes all of the parts and I think they are OE, but there is also Karlyn/Bremi, NGK, Beru, etc. Appreciate any advice on sourcing good aftermarket wires, coils, distributor caps, distributor rotors, etc. I already ordered the correct Bosch spark plugs...

Bosch for caps & rotors. Do not use Bremi, Facet, Karlyn, or NGK (wires). If it needs wires, the Beru set (click here) is the best option I know of, although a couple people have reported receiving a set with 1 bad wire.

There may not be any need to replace all the ignition components though. Caps & rotors are the most common wear items, but remove them and see what you find.

:shocking:
