FYI - Parts orders from MB Naperville - Free shipping with code 500EPROMO

Any one notice the amount of Prop 65 warnings on most of the parts? If simple trim pieces are not compliant with Prop 65, I assume my whole car is not compliant as well. May be time to stop driving it :)

Just placed my first order with them for a full transmission and oil service (including ATF and oil), plus few other odd pieces. Not only code works, but it was by near $30 cheaper than the nearest "usual online shopping places". Quite happy to have all OE parts for service, certainly can't go wrong with those :jono:

Regards,
D

Well, I'm very pleased, everything arrived today, 2 large boxes from 2 locations, well packaged, well taped up, updates on the order status via email every step of the way, couldn't be happier with these folks!

Regards,
D

Placed an order over the weekend for Pap's car, few misc things just to get his car 100% - arrived by Wed, free shipping still works, and how can you beat the OE parts with those prices! MB of Naperville.

Regards,
D

I have placed three orders with MB Naperville over the past 4-6 weeks, as I gather parts for my C126 rear subframe replacement, and everything has arrived very quickly, communication has been good, and the orders have been accurate. And as said, free shipping. No complaints.

The fact that MB Naperville provides this forum with the "500EPROMO" free shipping code is a clear sign they want and value our forum's collective business.

Yep, they've been great and the prices have been lower from any other online retailer.

As the subject of the OP, this promo ends after this year?

There are Revolution Parts sites out there (i.e. MB dealerships) with slightly (perhaps 1-2%) cheaper prices. But to my knowledge, ALL of them charge shipping and do not offer the "free" shipping that MB Naperville does.

This means that MB Naperville takes the low-price cake about 95% of the time.

As for renewing the promo, I have no doubt that MB Naperville will do this for us. We should reach out to them and have them extend the free shipping code for another year.

I'll delegate that task to @nocfn ;-)

I've placed seven orders in the past six weeks and they have been filling them faster than before. It has been taking about 5-7 days to get to me in Tucson from the time of ordering. The free shipping is a great deal. I hope they renew it too.

Has FedEx increased their shipping rates recently? I just ordered a fuel pump, two fuel hoses and four hose clamps from Naperville and was surprised to see the shipping was $90.36. There was a core charge on the fuel pump so maybe they have included return shipping? Does anyone know if they include the return for the core in the initial shipping?

If they did include the return shipping charge, wouldn't you get a pre-printed & pre-paid label to ship the core back?

$90 shipping sounds high, what rate did you/they use, standard, 1 day, 2 day, 5 day etc?

I would guess free shipping is for standard shipping only, could that be the $75 they deducted from the $90?
Where $75 is standard snail mail, and $90 is an expedited delivery of some type.

I'll guess you'll need to ship the core back to them at your own expense, to get credit for the core charge.

I just looked back at my last invoice from them, for a order I placed earlier this month
The order was for 2 fog lamp assbl's and the under engine plastic panel.
Shipment came in two boxes, the front deflector was in a huge box all by itself, must have been 4ft x 4ft x 8"
all that was just $41 Standard shipping

And thanks again to gsxr for the tips on the Fog lamp assm's

I think it is a part revolution problem. Sometimes the shipping charges are absurd for what it is. I've run into that before. When that happens, I call Renee and half of the time she is able to do something about it.

Ditto what Jlaa said. And, each RevParts dealer has a different shipping cost matrix. The same order at different dealers may have wildly different ship quotes. It also has issues with large quantities of small items. Definitely one of the bigger problems with that platform.

:oldman:

If you use MB Naperville (www.mboemparts.com), for most orders without HUGE shipping costs, you won't ever have to worry about shipping if you use the 500EPROMO code at checkout time.

I do not believe I've ever been charged shipping by that dealership when ordering through their web site, using the code. They do not charge sales tax either. This combination of no shipping and no tax makes them the lowest cost source of genuine MB parts, in the majority of situations.

I called yesterday for an unrelated issue and they said they were barely hanging on because Renee has been gone. Not sure why or if it's permanent. Anyway, this was standard shipping and was the first time I've ever had to pay extra above the free $75 with the 500EPROMO code.

The charge above $75 has been there for a while, since the latter part of 2019 from what I can remember.

That's true. I just said this was the first time I've exceeded it. The time I'd spend on the phone trying to get this resolved is not worth the extra $15 I had to pay. Like Jlaa said, sometimes the shipping charges are absurd for what they're shipping.

A workaround, which is a nuisance, is to break up your order. If you exceed the $75 threshold, in theory you should be able to pick an item or two that can be ordered separately a few days later. The "smaller" orders should then be under the $75 limit.

Ideally they would just have no limit on the free shipping, and just exclude oversize/overweight items that would have to ship via freight/LTL, like engines or rear bumpers.

:watermelon:

Maybe I should have tried that but for a fuel pump and two fuel hoses you'd think it wouldn't even get close to $75.

Some items pop up with a very high shipping cost, no idea what drives that. I put a hood pad on order with them and the shipping came up something like $250. I tried again, same. I tried on another day, $250. I wondered if it was coming from Germany or what. Ordered it through PP. It was really weird.

Not long ago I received from said preferred MB supplier a front 500E ASB that came in a 5.5’ x 3.5’ x 12” box marked “Fragile”.
The bar occupied less than 1% of the box volume.
But no shipping charge.

I ordered a hood pad recently from Naperville. It came in a big box but was pretty cheap on the shipping. Here's the invoice from that order. You can see the hood pad (INSULATOR) and the shipping for everything was only $62.75, reduced to nothing.

The system bases ship estimates on part dimensions & weight. If it uses the hood pad dimensions when laid flat, that could generate some weird numbers. The system isn't smart enough to know the pad can be rolled up or folded for shipping. Again, this may vary between vendors; I think each RevParts dealer has the ability to manually adjust OOS/NLA notes for each part number, and possibly ship data as well.

OH NO!!!!! Renee is such a gem..... :-(
I just placed an order a few minutes ago from Naperville, including for a G-wagen 722.3 transmission filter (it's identical to the pedestrian 722.3 filters, but has a long neck for the deeper G-wagen trans pan), and a set of four E500E sway bar bushings, and a new M104/M119 cylinder head bolt socket to replace the one of mine that @gsxr (seemingly) has.

This is the note that I got on-screen after I placed my order.

My order placed on Thursday of last week is still "open", as in not even "processing". Today's a 6th business day...

Wow, that's pretty bad if they are not even processing orders, even after a full week-plus.

Perhaps a hiatus on placing orders from MB Naperville is prudent, particularly if parts are needed in fairly short order. None of my parts ordered today are critical, though it would be nice to have the G-wagen transmission filter so I can change the trans fluid. But I can wait a bit longer on that one, too...

Yes, I was on mbpartspro.com based out of Portland Or and they posted 'temporary closed'. That was Monday. Local dealerships are still open but over 70% of staff are laid off during this time.

E-mail per my order placed this morning:

Yeah I got that email too with my parts orders after @RicardoD convinced peer pressured me into replacing a bunch of fuel lines. I figure --- I'm happy to wait however long ---- I'm hoping they are all safe from C19 and all the individual employees like Renee are solvent. There is an outbreak of C19 in Naperville -- one of the pastors of a local church died from C19, and who knows how many parishioners have it....

Naperville church pastor dies a week after contracting COVID-19 😳 May the pastor RIP.

I’m just off the phone with them placing an order. They used to have 4 people working parts, now just one due to CV19. That gentleman (“Bob” IIRC) says he’s 5-10 days behind processing orders. I suppose I could have paid for expedited shipping and foregone the promo, but talking to him it didn’t seem like that would get my stuff in a box any quicker, it would only affect the manner of shipping afterward. Plus I have enough to hurry about, so this ain’t that. More first world problems — hobby parts take longer.

maw

My BIL placed an order around March 17. It STILL has not shipped. He talked to Bob and they are hoping... hoping!!!...to maybe, possibly, ship next week.

:runexe:

MB have closed their UK HQ and most dealers have closed too, so genuine parts are currently unavailable here. My wife’s S211 was rear ended a few weeks ago; repairs have been authorised but it will stay in the (now closed) body shop until MB can supply a rear bumper, crash beam etc.. Obviously, when that will be is anyone’s guess.

Yeah... I discussed with my guys doing the work the possibility of them getting the parts quicker, and heard horror stories. Some poor chap bringing parts from Europe and Germany (non-MB specific, restoration business) has seen his shipping charges multiply 6x, which basically eats his profit and means he loses money on each part. “No thanks.” Killing his business. This will be interesting. Patience we shall all learn, with everything and everyone.

My March 30th order, containing brake rotors and breather tubes arrived today. Rotors where just thrown into the master box without their own boxes. Not sure if that's normal. Other order from March 26th still hasn't shipped

Sadly, this is normal from most vendors, dealer and aftermarket. I usually purchase brake rotors from my local dealer to avoid shipping damage. Or if I need to order elsewhere, I order ONLY the brake rotors, and if I need any other parts those go on a separate order so the warehouse packers can't put heavy rotors loose in the box next to fragile stuff.

Yesterday (Friday) I received one item from my order, which arrived via FedEx and was drop-shipped directly from the MB warehouse in Robbinsville, NJ. I have not yet received the other items of the order, though mboemparts.com has marked the order now as "Ready to Ship". I expect that I'll receive it this coming week sometime.

I placed an order through MB Annapolis (www.getmercedesparts.com), which uses the same Revolution Parts platform as MB Naperville, and actually offers a 1-3% lower price than MB Naperville. I have a special arrangement with the Internet parts manager at MB Annapolis not to charge me shipping (because I'm local), although they do charge me the 6% Maryland sales tax, which MB Naperville does not.

But MB Annapolis' parts department is operating, and I confirmed this earlier last week by phone. I was told that MB parts was on a Friday Easter Holiday, but that I should have most all of my parts by Tuesday, or Wednesday next week at the latest. A couple of small clips are coming from Germany.
