HOW-TO: Replacing the E500E throttle cable

Re: HOW TO: replacing the E500E throttle cable

Not bad ! If I may ask....why a PDF rather than doing it in the thread itself?

HOW TO: replacing the E500E throttle cable

Thanks Gerry. I think it's easier to read, download, and print. Plus, any changes or edits can be applied to a single document which again is easier to read, download and print (IMHO).

Nice write-up and pix Glen !

Is the cable part # the same for all the .036s ?

Thanks Jim. As far as I know, the cable is the same for all years.

Re: HOW TO: replacing the E500E throttle cable

Anyone have the adjustment procedure? I just received my new cable and other bits, but don't want to proceed until I have all of the required documentation.

Hope this will help out... also in PDF format.

But I can't seem to view the above PDF for the DIY...

One note on doing this job: Be careful when removing the clip that joins the throttle pedal to the cable (part #124 300 16 25). The bottom pin of this clip is a split-design and this is what keeps the pin from backing out. I accidentally broke part of the bottom pin while changing my throttle cable last week. I think the best way to remove it is to push the bottom pin out from right to left with a drift or needle-nose pliers and it will cause both parts of the pin to squeeze together and slide through the hole. There were only three of these clips remaining in Mercedes' system and I just bought two of them.

Moderator edit: Clip A1243001625 is now NLA.
