[Project] Create E500E Headlights and Chrome-Lenses

Hello there from Germany,

cause of the NLA of the euro headlights and lenses for our E500Es I want to ask you if I could realize this project or maybe you have some tips.
I think about this project because my right headlight-housing have a small damage (one broken bracket for lense).

Idea/Project:

Buy New/Used Headlight (Stock Hella/TYC/DEPO/Johns ?)
-change electrical wiring (high beam light instead fog light)
-remove fog-light-reflector and cut/remove metal cap for H3 bulb
-remove lens and cut off the glass out of the lense-frame
-get the parts chromed with chrome-spray(not really professional so not recommended) or bring to paintshop or try to get it galvanic chromed
-glue back the glass on lense-frame, put lense back on headlight-housing

Its possible to do this or I will get there any problems or I missed something ? Are there more differences to stock 124 Headlights ?

The main problem is the lens fluting is different in front of the H3 bulb. You can't use a "standard" lens.

Now, if you have correct 036 lenses, the other modifications (to the headlamp/housing/reflectors) should be possible.

Ahh okay thank you ver y much...so we need E500E-specific glass for the lense to get it :-(

If the plastic is clean- it can be chrome plated quite easily. I have seen with 3-d printed parts, ppl spray them with copper paint to provide the electrical conductance for the nickel flash and chrome finish. Plenty of resto market in america which surely does this on old trim.

A good 2 part epoxy might fix that broken corner bracket on the lens, BTDT.
