Replacement Windshield

Do all the new windshields have the VIN window at the bottom?

My 92' OE screen does not (VIN plate on A-pillar)....I would like to get a new windshield in 2023.
AFAIK, Mercedes superceded all the old 124 windshield p/n's to the newest/latest version, which includes the VIN window, and the plastic channel required at the bottom as of late 1993 model year. You probably can't get a VIN-windowless windshield from the dealer, but you may be able to get one aftermarket.

Looks to me like an OEM (Sigla) replacement. No MB star so it was probably replaced on the aftermarket. But some time ago as Sigla glass hasn’t been available for the 124 for many many years.

Another clue that it has been replaced is the lack of the white “A MERCEDES-BENZ PRODUCT” sticker on the lower passenger side corner of the windshield.

Still, Sigla glass is of excellent quality. I’d bet that it was probably replaced within the first 5-7 years of the car’s life.

Thanks Gerry, do you have a pic of what an original looks like that you can posr?

Appears the OE glass is NLA again. Just get aftermarket Pilkington. If your car needs the lower channel to retain the late wiper seal, make SURE the new glass includes this, or buy it separately and install on the glass before it is bonded onto the car.

is there a part number? i need front and rear replacement

If anyone needs it, I have a brand new, MB late (facelift) windshield in MB packaging, available, for USD $6,500 if anyone needs it. Purchased a couple of years ago when the windshields were still available. It has the MB star on it.

Part number is in the title of the linked thread in this post and the quoted thread in the above post.

Its in the title of the thread linked above. But, NLA, so the part number doesn't really help.

Rear glass info in thread below. MBCC shows rear glass is still available, although most RevParts online dealers show "Discontinued". MSRP is $1040.

Please search the forum for more details on both. People reported receiving defective rear glass. Inspect it before accepting delivery.
