I'd embed but it seems to be fighting me this evening..IDK..

List O Mods!

ATE power discs in front..
Someones drilled rotors in the rear..Cracked in 2 places on each disc after a day @ the track...cheap knock off junk:(
K&N's.
Fresh Bosch F8DC4 spark plugs
QUAIFE... :) :)
Running 17' AMG Aero I's w/ Pilot Sport Cups 255/45 17.
Fenders rolled w/ in an inch of their life.
Exhaust cut just after O2, no cats into a Magnaflow dual in/single out muffler w/ straight pipe to the rear.
Running 2.8° negative camber in the front, 2.1° negative camber in the rear.

Bits removed:
rear seats, insulation, head rests, hat tray, antenna, everything in the trunk, vacuum pump, wiper (had to put back in that morning as first session was in the rain), carpets, headlight wipers, front valence panels, headliner, sunroof panel, rear door cards, AC condenser, auc fans, fan clutch & fan.. next will be rear window regs/motors and a proper set of seats @ which point all the carpeting etc will come out.

This is version 1.0.. Eventually will be running a rear mount turbo and speed manual. Think I may kick gearing down to 2.65 as I'm feathering on the front straight in 3rd...and once a turbo is added I'll DEF be running out of gear. Am looking to see if I can get the rev limit raised to about 7200 or so just so I can have over-run..

Oh, fluids I was running, Redline 50wt in the crank case, Redline power Steering and Redline 75/90 diff. Coolant is just water w/ two bottles of Redline water wetter.

that's about all I got for the moment!

Till the next event:):)

Awesome, I'd love to drive on a track like that! You're sitting awfully relaxed, though ;)

(And your dash gauges are broken ... :P)

Can we sign up for E-ticket rides? I noticed the lucky passenger!

:deniro:

hrrmm..posts from the cell phone don't seem to take, ah well.

But yes, the OP gauge crapped on the way to the track..new sender resolved that particular issue..original was still in place.

I don't like sitting close to the wheel, never have..plus, w/ a turning ratio such as this shuffle steering is the name of the game...to keep it Smooth I do find having my arms straighter is Better...I am 6'2 so some distance is required to keep my arms @ my pref'd angle!

I'll sign Dave up as Passenger #1 on the Road Atlanta 500E taxi..not quite as exciting as space tourism but a Whole Lot Cheaper!

Forgot to ask: With the KONI yellows, was the damping acceptable on the track? Do you remember where they were set (fronts have 2.5 turns, IIRC, rears have three 'clicks', right?)

:3gears:

everything is maxed out..yes, worked pretty well. But my springs are still too soft... Looking to have something in the 8-900 front 4-500 rears twisted up. If need be, I may turn to Bilstein for some custom valved shocks.

Oh, and I do plan on adapting a NASCAR style front sway bar @ some point. Ideally, I won't really Need much/if any of a rear sway once I have Enough spring in the rear.

jono:)

jono, you're looking smooth and the car is working pretty well for a first version. Not a bad place to start by any means.

We used to run the ARRC every year, but I never figured out how to go quite as fast as the local boys. I have a bunch of video, but its all analog and I don't have any way to convert it.

Is any way you can move the camera down a few inches? The dang rearview mirror is right where you want to look...

Thanks DrNo/Hollybrook..:)

I don't know if I'll be fast enough to run in any class..they'd likely group me w/ corvettes and the like..and in which case, good luck..

Agreed on the mount..this was my first video w/ the go-pro, so I wasn't Really sure about placement. I'm going to get a longer mount or see if I can run sans mirror...yes, it is maddening to watch in that regard..! Yer vids VHS/super8/BETA...??:-P

Hopefully next time out I'll have it more thoroughly sorted... funny part of it is, I put more miles on the drive from the shop to the track then I did in all the other runs shaking it down prior. we were a little pressed for time..;-)

Offtopic:
Hollybrook: There are companies specialized in digitizing old VHS/Betamax tapes. We've done that here, costs a few bucks, and the resulting quality is dramatic (think online movies pre-youtube), but at least it'll last. The older tapes *will* degrade, leaving you with a black cassette with only garbage. My advice would be to seek out such company as soon as you can, if you value these old memories.

Jono,

You can send the Koni's back to their US race shop and get them re-valved. They've done stuff for me in the past quite reasonably.

Good to know Sam..:) I haven't chatted w/ the guys @ Koni..only the guys @ Bilstein.
