Subframe Rear Bushings

Kit 124-350-04-41 used to have different bushings (with tall abs), but now has the same short-tab bushings as the 124-350-03-41 kit. The "correct" bushings with tall tabs (individual part number 129-351-15-42) are NLA from MB, and have superceded to the short-tab bushings (129-351-19-42). So yes, there is a difference, but you cannot get the correct bushings from MB anymore. Photos are at this link.

Note: The kit includes the bushings + hardware. The bushings and hardware were also available separately, but the tall-tab bushings are NLA. The tall-tab KIT is still sold by MB but now includes SHORT tabs in the kit. VERY confusing.

202-350-34-08 is NLA, but may work. Can you post some detailed photos of this bushing kit, since you have one? The Sportline bushings are stiffer, so it's up to you if you want to install stock bushings or stiffer bushings.

Those look just like the late-style Sportline bushings. The part number on the rubber is 1 digit off vs the R129 number, but I need to double-check on that... could be the MB EPC number is not the same as what's on the rubber itself. Thanks for the pics! Do you mind if I add them to my website?

These are the subframe bushings I used when I did the my rear subframe refresh. They are boxed by Febi but the bushings appeared to be made by Boje (They had Boje stamped on them or the Boje logo, can't remember which but I'm sure they where Boje).

For instance, for the FRONT Rear-subframe-bushing 129-351-15-42, it was manufactured by BOGE for MB.

Being in search of AFT rear subframe bushings, I found a pair of Boge 202-350-34-08 advertised on ebay.



I paid $70 for the two plus tax plus shipping. What I received was not two kits with two pairs each (even though they *should* be a kit), but two bushings without any additional hardware - 201-351-28-42 (made by BOGE with the Mercedes star ground off). Hmmmmmmmm......

Upon closer research, I found that these 201-351-28-42 were specified for the 190Es including the 2.5 EVO, and PRECEEDED the 202-350-34-08 bushings (see EPC note below showing the supercession). Does anyone know if these work for the w124 500E? A part lookup in the EPC shows that 201-351-28-42 were originally for seemingly all w201s







Note that I found these to be:

336g each
70mm tall
Outer diameter 81mm / 78mm
Inner diameter 33mm



EDIT - I compared the 201-351-28-42 to the regular pedestrian w124 AFT rear subframe bushings and the dimensions are the same. The only difference is that it seems that the rubber/voids area looks sliiiiightly different (less rubber & more open area on the 201 part as you can see in the first picture below) and the 201-351-28-42 part is 10 grams lighter than the 124-351-02-42 part when the scale is tared at the same time. I'm not too encouraged by this, so I started the return process back to the seller on ebay.

Also I think using new AFT pedestrian bushings is just the way to go. Reading through all the bushing threads, its seem that it is the FORWARD bushings that takes all the abuse and the AFT ones are more or less ok?

@RicardoD , inspect your rear/large bushings as shown in post #30 on the "HOW TO" thread (here). If they are partly collapsed, replacement would be optional but I think pedestrian bushings would still be a good idea. If fully collapsed, definitely replace them. If in the future you source the correct bushings, you can change them out later on, the rear R&R is not a bad job at all with the 9110 tool.

I ordered Febi/Bilstein 10155 bushings (Boge) for the front as @Jlaa and other recommended but I didn't get any bolts or washers/end stops.

Can I use following parts which Xentry provides? For the front bushing spacer/end stop A1293520146 which supersedes to A129352014664 and for the bolt N910106012020 supersedes to N914125012238?

For rear bushing should be used pedestrian bushing A1243510242 but how about the mounting kit? Is that kit A1243506708 still valid as mentioned earlier?

I'll try to avoid ordering front kit (A1243500441) from the dealer which is not proper anymore since I have the bushings..

Or can I use old bolts and end stops? Or do you recommend to replace bolts and end stops?

Then how about the diff mount? The complete kit (A1243509708) is not available anymore and only few parts are possible to buy separately. How have you done the diff mount replacement?

The front bushing stop has rolled again, from A1293520146 to 171-352-00-46. The bolts should be 914125-012238 as you mentioned above. Make sure to have the stop/washer oriented correctly, don't install upside-down.

For rear bushing should be used pedestrian bushing A1243510242 but how about the mounting kit?

I'd consider using the reproduction late-Sportline bushings available in Europe vs pedestrian.

Pedestrian kit is A1243506708, but it may be cheaper to order the bolts (201-990-03-04-64) and stop plates (201-352-12-46) separately - check pricing first. In USA, it's cheaper to buy separately. Remember these parts won't work with the late Sportline bushing design.

It depends on the condition of the old ones, but often the originals are pretty corroded. I'd order new ones.

The original kit is NLA for the front diff mount, but there are some 140 and/or 210 pieces that can be used in their place. Search the forum for details. The replacement parts aren't identical but are functionally equivalent. I think the top & bottom rubber bushings have to be ordered separately - researched this a few years ago and already forgot the details, ooops.

These may or may not be the same as the repros available from Europe that have been purchased by @dreaming.haze for a much cheaper price.

Ah, you bought the bushings separately... that is not a kit. The kit available in USA included 2 bushings, 2 bolts, and 2 stop plates. But the Febi stop plates are junk, and the newer kits have questionable bolt quality. Kit = Febi # 10154. Single bushing = Febi #10155.

EPC / Xentry Parts do not show all supercessions. Only the Mercedes inventory system will show this. If you order 129-352-01-46 you'll receive 171-352-00-46, at least in USA. Not sure about Europe. The two part numbers should be nearly identical though, either one is fine if it's OE/Genuine.

Can you give some more info about those? Link/URL etc?

The late-style Sportline bushings require different hardware. These require stop plates (202-990-05-04) and bolts (202-352-00-46).

I think those *are* the 140/210 parts, bundled and sold as a replacement for the 034/036 kit. Kit part number 202-350-96-08 may be another alternative, it looks very similar to the 140/210 but possibly with different length bolts?

Okay, just got Carrus rear subframe bushings + diff carrier bushing. Pics attached. Bushing kit has also mounting parts included.

To my eye those seem good quality, can't see any diffrence to OE parts. (Haven't see the NOS original one)
I bet that those are better than what are currently installed in my car and they seem quite worn out.

Is that the correct forward rear subframe bushing for v8 subframe? I picked up a set of reproduction sportline rear bushings but need to order the fronts and want to be sure!

Started on the bushings. I was able to get a set of the carrus reproduction sport bushings from a member here, and boy are they a big difference. The old ones were definitely worn out and the new ones are stout.

OK guys it turns out I got my parts suppliers mixed up. I ordered from the MB parts center which is not the Mercedes-Benz Classix center. I reordered directly from the Mercedes-Benz Classix center and they did have the parts, they are coming out of Germany, but the bushing is still available.

If I order the front bushings for the rear subframe as Quick4door did, mboemparts.com tells me the bushing is not right for my car ('95 E420). But the price is favorable.

If I order the kit, 124-350-0441, it's $71 per side. Quick4door's total was only $74 for both sides. What am I missing?

The kit 124-350-04-41 had shot up in price to stupid levels, about 10 years ago... like $180 MSRP, $150 discount. So it was much cheaper (like, half the cost) to buy the components separately instead. And for a short while, it was possible to buy the tall-tab bushings separately, until they too went NLA.

Today, if you buy the components separately, it is still cheaper - if you buy from a RevPart dealer. For example, from Naperville, it's ~$45 total to buy everything separately. Prices below are rounded:

124-351-19-42 = $11 x 2 = $22 total (short-tab bushings)
171-352-00-46 = $6 x 2 = $12 total (stop plate)
914125-012238 = $5 x 2 = $10 total (bolts)

I just got back my subframe and suspension part from powder coating. I managed to install bushings quite easy with Miller tools. Especially fronts were really piece of cake. But rears made some headache. First the the "pusher plate" will contact the side of subframe and new paint will scratch away which was annoying. For perfect result you have to modify the pusher plate a bit, cut away/hone slightly one edge to clear perfectly. Also for some reason bushing twisted a little bit that you can see from above that it is not in line with the subframe. I think that it won't cause any problems but for me it looks annoying.

Any tips how I can turn it back to proper position? The small notch is in proper place but twist is visible

I already take it off and tried to install but it turn again when reinstalling. I used some soap to lubricate. I wonder that those Carrus bushings might not be so accurate what comes in dimensions but the overall quality seems ok to me.

Ps. I made new sticker to subframe just like it was from the factory

• For the forward rear-subframe bushings, you want 129-351-15-42. These have taller tabs than 129-351-19-42. The bummer is that 15-42 is NLA from Mercedes. However, sometimes (but not always) FEBI reboxes BOGE-origin 129-351-15-42s. You might win a gamble.

@sheward - The best AFT rear-subframe bushings now are Germany / Japan sourced reproductions. @dreaming.haze brought a bunch over to the States from CARUS-OLDTIMERPARTS (see screenshot) --- he might have some still. The below photo highlights the weight difference between the reproductions for the E500E and pedestrian bushings.

I received my order with the sub frame bushings and received the ones we want. They came in a Febi Bilstein box that states made in Turkey. There are no manufacturing names on the actual bushings.

I mistakenly ordered two kits not aware that one kit contains two bushings, so I have one kit for sale at $80.00 + shipping, same as I paid. These kits have the smaller plates, and I don't know if the larger plates ( 129 352 01 46 64) are still available as I already had them Myself.

I also have a set of the bushings with the lower tabs (a kit with bolts and plates) for sale. $40.00 + shipping. These are MB products.

Just like my experience with the front LCAs, I find myself in the NLA parts swamp. I’m trying to get parts on hand for a rear suspension refresh, I’m planning wheel carrier links, control arm bushings, and subframe bushings. After reading this thread I took a chance and bought Febi 124 350 04 41 (Ebay) hoping to get Boge reboxed bushings. No luck, the bushings have no meaningful markings and the box says made in Germany but it also says assembled in Germany with parts from Turkey. Are these “assembled in Germany Turkish bushings” acceptable? The last post on this thread is more than a year ago, any current tips or recommendations would be appreciated. I did find the Carus reproduction bushings advertised on EBay, think they were mentioned in this thread. Anybody have recent experience with these? Thanks!

J.M., I would probably go ahead and gamble on using the Türkiye bushings, IF they are the "tall tab" style shown in Jlaa's photos above. It will be very hard to locate old Febi stock with the Boge bushings.

The alternative is OE Boge bushings with the short tab, but IMO the taller tab is more important to reduce subframe movement, than COO.

Many years ago there was a Mercedes dealer supercession from the original part number to the 202- kit. The original Spotline bushings haven't been available in a couple decades or more. The new 202- bushings are far more robust.
