I have for sale an ambient (instrument cluster) temperature display for EARLY W124 models. This temp display WILL NOT work with 1988 and later W124 models.

It has the FOUR-PRONG plug, rather than the FIVE-PRONG plug that the later W124 models have.

If you have a 1986-1987 W124, and need an ambient temp display, this is your unit !

I believe this style only works on 1986-1987 USA model years, possibly some early MY 1988. FSM claims the break was Sept-1987:

Since it's for USA models I suppose it reads Fahrenheit and not Celsius?

Yes, it is a Fahrenheit display. It came from a US-spec 300E that was made in 10/1985. A very early US 300E.
