ETA refurbishment in the UK

Has anyone had or know of a UK based firm re building ETAs ? I have had intermitent ASR light for a while and after
having the codes read was told N16/1S2 idle speed safty contact switch.
After a lot of google and useing the search function here this switch looks to be part of the ETA
I will check the lever is against the stop at idle but the linkage has never been tampered with and I think I am clutching at straws !
The ETA was last replaced in July 2005 at a UK main dealer at a cost then of £677 reduced to £609 with discount plus our vat (that was the part price only)
It will be interesting to see the current price, 21 years is not bad but only 30 000 miles of use in that time
The part number is A000 141 8925 and any advice and recomendation would be a great help

000-141-89-25 has been NLA for a while. It had been ~$2k USD MSRP when available.

M16/1s2 is the closed throttle position switch, and yes that is inside the ETA. Not sure if it can be cleaned / repaired, or if it must be replaced...

With only 30kmi on it, I'd expect it should still be working! ETA's generally fail based on high miles, not age. 30k is practically brand new. Also make sure the throttle linkage is adjusted correctly...

:scratchchin:

Thats what I need to check next before I jump in, The ETA was fitted by a Mercedes main dealer so I assume the linkage was
set up at the time, its never been touched since . It also had a new switch in the pedal (A140 545 0114) and a new control unit
A140 545 7132 (£848 plus VAT then) what with recovery and testing it cost the previous owner £2796.04p
It was one of the reasons I bought the car as all this had been done
Thinking aloud I might start the car with the throttle depressed a bit then drive it without ever fully shuting the throttle and see
what the light does
So far I have tried all the cheap things new fully charged battery new fuses new brake light switch (genuine) I may try a new pedal
switch as they are not that expensive
The code did say N16/1S2 but the eta does buzz and click when powered up
Due to the low miles I would prefer to have my own eta refurbished but would a refurb cover this issue they seem more wiring replacement based?
I really just want a way of testing the man who read the codes was right before I spend a lot of money !

@GRAEME JOHNSON this is the only company I'm aware of that might be able to help or perhaps advise of someone else who can:

Thank you for that it wont hurt to ask them
I like the idea of the US based rebuilders as they specalise on these ETAs
Idealy I would like mine tested then rebuilt if reqd as its a low miles unit rather than an exchange
The tariff situation could be awkward for the US
Its not being imported to the US its coming back to the UK when its repaired
What is the value of the item ? its broken so its worthless scrap so no tariff to pay?
What VAT when it returns to England ? I havent bought it , it was mine anyway who decides the tax value of a used item
I dont mind paying VAT on the cost of the rebuild
This is why I would prefer the work done in the UK but like everything here its finding someone who knows what they are
doing and wont rip you off
So if any UK members have had a positive first hand experiance of a Mercedes ETA rebuild please share
idealy from a rebuilder themselves not via some specialist who sends them out then adds a cut

I recently sent my ETA from NZ to Victor at Restore Your Mercedes in NYC. There were no tariffs to pay - I shipped it as a "temporary export, for repair and return to NZ". I did pay NZ GST (VAT) on the value of the repair.

If your ETA is in fact faulty, my experience is that Victor is the best person to diagnose and repair it.

Thank you rucraig that is very helpfull I would have no problem with paying Vat on the cost of the repair
I like the idea of it going to an establised and experienced rebuilder who has worked on these before

There's always Kurth's and MKB in Germany if that's easier..
They look interesting as well with fair prices , We have so called used parts specialists in the UK who are asking a fortune for old secondhand units
that could go wrong in a few months , I would much rather send my low mileage ( but old ) unit to one of these rebuilders and just have everything
changed while they have it apart
I dont mind spending the money on a proper repair, but I want to be sure its the repair I need
If I went mad and bought a new /nos ETA it would still show a fault if my throttle linkage is out of adjustment or my brakelight switch is bad . Thats
why I want to be sure all the basic easy things are correct first
I pick up a new switch for the throttle pedal today ( cant hurt ) A140 545 0114 £44.90P reduced to £40.31p plus our vat 3, day delivery from Germany
I think I have all the information contacts etc to get this sorted now so a big thank you to all the members who have shared their knowledge advice and
expriances

I'm thinking exactly the same for my car; As soon as I find the proper cable for my HHTWIN I'll see if I can spot any erratic behavior that might be the cause of the ASR-problems I have, but until then I'm playing the waiting game.
