500E HOW-TO: what do I need for reinstalling the headlight wiper/washer system?

Hi guys,

it goes on briskly and I hope to be able to give something back soon.

My converted (E)500E also had the headlight washers removed when it went from 500E to E500 - someone told me they were standard on all of them.

If so, the electrics should still be there if possible.

What parts do I need?
Are they still available?
Does anyone know the A numbers - hahaa, I used to work for Mercedes in mechanical design for buses - memories come flooding back now with the A part numbers.

Maybe there is already a tutorial - but I must confess that my creativity for search words in English is somewhat limited.

Greetings
René- who has headlight glasses :yahoo:

The car will still have the original wiring harness, it's part of the windshield washer system. You will need to wait until you receive the car to determine what components are missing. However, the main items would be the wiper motors, arms, and blades... some of which are NLA.

Part numbers below. All this stuff is likely missing since the car had the wipers deleted. Ignore callout #19, it comes with the arm #17 if buying new. If buying used, you'll need to see if nozzle #19 is intact or not.

You also will need the wiper panels, A1248890763 and A1248890863.

I do have a appointment tomorrow at my local Mercedes Dealer to pick up 100 clips for my Sprinter - I will remove the side panels to make sure that there is no rust. After that I will seal in the clips with Dekalin Dekaseal - but this is another story 🙃.

I will then ask for the mechanical parts availability for the washer unit.
Thanks for the overview.

Wiper blades and wiper arms are very likely NLA, but I'm sure you'll be able to find them as a NOS item on ebay (I did with mine 2 years ago).

Hi guys,
I got a quote from Mercedes Dealer based on the list of Dave.

This are the parts available at Mercedes desk

It is just a quote to know which parts are available.

Yep, that's what I expected. Both motors, one arm, zero blades.
