FYI, the gap dimension data is in the Technical Data Manual (TDM), under Group 60, Joint Dimensions. They are published for all chassis (124, 126, 129, 140, etc). Just found that today!

The TDM was not published every year (not sure why) but after 124 production began, there were at least TDM's in 1985, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1991, and 1993. I've never seen one dated between 1994-2000, at least not in English. I don't know if TDM's were published during those years, and if not, why not. TDM's were available again as of 2001 and published almost every year from 2001 to 2012. Not sure if they are available as of 2013...

It was the TDM. They are both unknown to me and it would be interesting to have a look at them at some point.

Get the TDM if you can find one in nice shape at a reasonable price. There are a bunch on eBay. While the 1991 should have all the 034/036 relevant data (I think - I don't have the 1991 version), the 1993 definitely does have both. There's a plethora of useful info in there.

EDIT: The 1991 TDM has 036 data, but not 034 data, or any M104-HFM information. For complete 124 chassis data, get the 1993 TDM only.

I have now purchased a 1993 version of this book from USA.

The 1993 appears the most comprehensive covering w124 and w140 models also which is what I was particularly interested in.

I was looking forward to receiving my large MB technical manual..... then

Oops I missed the memo these were a micro book! But still useful, like a condensed version of WIS all in a small book. Torque settings, specifications etc.

Just a note for all if you purchase one of these small pocket books-

I bought one from USA and first time I went to use it for wheel bearing data there were pages missing!!

To be fair I got a refund on it which is not the ideal outcome for me or the seller but it appeared to be a genuine mistake.

So just double check you have a complete issue when you buy these used!

That is crazy! The pages must have detached from the binding. :(

Joe, if you want to see the TDM specs for bearings, I can snap a photo of the pages and post them here.

Ouch - that is 35 pages missing! 😦

I hope to score one of these books in a not too long time and I can then scan those missing pages and post them here or Email/PM them over to you if you like.

Thank you for the kind offers gents! In reality though I'll probably not use this little pocketbook very much!

I have Full WIS on several laptops so I'll just keep using that and I do have access to all the information.

I'll look for another (complete).version on ebay also in due course just to have it 😀

Joe, the TDM is so much handier than the WIS. Finding stuff in the WIS is tedious & painful. Lots easier to flip pages. And, there is some info in the TDM which may not be present in the WIS (not 100% certain though).

Took it from facebook 500E group!

I'd like to have one of the TDM in English should someone decide to sell.
Drew, the TDM's show up on eBay pretty often (click here), but generally aren't cheap. 1988 versions are relatively common, it's harder to find 1991 or 1993. As noted above, 1988 won't have M119 data.

TDM's were not printed annually, btw. I don't think any were produced between 1994-2000, or at least I've never seen one during those years.

Excellent, this is exactly what I'm looking for. Thank you very much Arnt!
Anyone interested in buying the reprints... note the feedback that the largest size results in blurry text. The source image is not high enough resolution to be magnified that much. Looks like the small A3 size might be preferred:

"Nice paper, however as i took the biggest size. The image has been expanded to much and its hard to read. Good quality but better for small and medium size. Not for 50x70. Can be improved."

I will make a 3D-drawing but everything in 3D. Exactly as you can see the blueprints, but with colors and actual 3D photos as my software can view them, front, side, back, top, drivetrain too if wishes.

Since I got the W124 3D-scan, my model got accuracy by 100 % now. Also will render to feature E500E overall with my current skillset and scenes.
