Wow! That's a very ambitious restoration attempt. Is it currently in progress? The pictures are helpful in understanding the cars construction. I wish them the best of luck.
Wow is right. I think it would be cheaper importing a rust free chassis from the U.S., Japan, or the middle east. Repairing that much rust is nuts and you'd never truly get it all.

+1. I can't even imagine the cost in parts alone, not counting labor! Wow.
The rust on the interior floor panels was scary. It didn't really have that much externally, I've seen much, much worse. Seems strange to be replacing a lot of panels that weren't bad in the first place.
Can't one buy a whole body shell from mb ?? If you're gonna go through all this it's easier to re-shell surely once you factor in all this labor . Car must have sentimental value !

Brings back memories of that other very well documented rebuilt with new parts car also on the Russian forum a few years ago, that one turned out pretty sweet.

I KNOW THOSE GUYS VERY WELL, THEY SPECIALIZED ON WOLFS (W124 500) BASED IN MOSCOW, RUSSIA
THEY ARE REAL PROFESSIONALS. BUDGETS OF RESTORATION HIGH BUT THAT ONLY FOR REAL CRAZY FANS OF 500'S
you and szvook focus on creating the new, "real" wiki & VIN database and let me know when you have it all up & running & likely by that time I will be much more fluent in Russian
holy moly...that was one big Project...''That car has to be somekind of bad repair job from old...maybe its been on fire or something..cause that rust in the floor section seems just not "normal"....
it actually made me feel good to see that amount of rust on that car...it kinda made the amount of rust on my car seem sooooo tiny.which it actually is ,now that its removed also
