It seems there is continuing interest and demand for Lamin-X by forum members, so I am going to place an order for another roll of Lamin-X. I will be able to fulfill orders once this is received. I am only going to get a smaller (30-foot) roll, but this will be enough for quite a few sets for those needing them.

Lamin-X's prices have gone up, so I've had to raise my price modestly. All orders will ship in a cardboard tube, together with pre-cut pre-facelift and/or facelift, and fog-lamp, templates.
The amount I'm ordering will cover approximately 5 cars.

Better late than never.... Just finished installing the Lamin-X on my now unobtanium Euro headlights. We are blessed to have flat headlights, this must be the easiest Lamin-X install of any car anywhere! And most importantly, it's virtually invisible, so those Euros are still spiffy-fresh looking to the fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a percent of humanity who might appreciate it! Thanks Gerry.

I just installed a Lamin-X on my (modestly pitted) E500 Euro headlight. It was out of the car, so it seemed the opportune time to install the Lamin-X.
You will need the following items:
What I did was to tape one end of the Lamin-X into position at one end of the headlamp. A few small/short pieces of Scotch tape every 3-4 inches will help hold it in place.
Put the gloves on, to keep your dirty/oily hands from fouling the clear Lamin-X as you handle it.
Trace the headlight pattern onto the back of the Lamin-X, then cut it out with the X-acto knife, using the flattened cardboard box as a pad.
Clean the headlight lens thoroughly with the Windex and a cleaning rag. Two or three times with Windex per lens is even better.
Lift up the un-taped part of the Lamin-X (should be around 2/3 of the length of it, and tear about 2/3 of the paper off of the underside of it.
Starting at the part where you tore the paper off, and using your credit card to push out air pockets, SLOWLY and EVENLY push the Lamin-X down along the height of the headlight, working about 1/2 inch at a time. Your goal is to keep air bubbles from forming.
Slowly work to the end of the Lamin-X. If you see an air bubble, carefully lift the Lamin-X a bit to expose it, and use the credit card to push it out.
Once you have reached the end of the Lamin-X, use your fingertips to push down the perimeter/edge of the Lamin-X to the edge of the glass lens. Go around it at least two or three times, slowly pushing the edge of the Lamin-X down.
Next, remove the pieces of tape that are holding the other end of the Lamin-X in position on the headlight lens. Use the point of your X-acto or a kitchen knife to lift up the Scotch tape pieces, and set them aside.
Lift up the un-adhered end of the Lamin-X to the point where you had ripped the backing paper. Remove the backing paper from the 1/3 of the Lamin-X that it is covering.
Repeat the process of using the credit card to SLOWLY press out air bubbles while working along the Lamin-X. Work along until the un-adhered edge is fully adhered.
Run your finger around the edge of the newly adhered Lamin-X two or three times, to ensure that it is sticking to the lens.
Check the Lamin-X carefully for air bubbles. You should have a very very minimal number of air bubbles, and very small ones, if you did the process correctly and slowly with the credit card. If you have any larger bubbles, you can create a "micro-puncture" in the bubble with the sharp tip of your X-acto knife, and press out the air from the puncture you made.
Give the installation one more visual once-over for quality control. Then you have one more headlight to do.

Wanted to bump this thread, to remind people (particularly if you have a new set or an existing set of "Euro" headlight lenses on your 500E or E500, that Lamin-X is the very best way to protect them, and takes all of 30 minutes to install.
I am selling sets, per pricing above, at significantly reduced prices from Lamin-X themselves, yet using their own material. All sets come with templates for headlights (and if you specify, foglights). I also have headlight sets avaialble for 560SEC "Euro" headlight lenses.
I still have plenty of Lamin-X avaialble for anyone needing it. If you have pre-facelift or facelift (or 1994-1995 US) Euro lamps/lenses, Lamin-X is a no-brainer to protect your lenses, because the current going price for replacement lenses here on the forum is $2,000+ !!

There's nothing special about the Lamin-X that I sold -- I just bought it in bulk rolls and passed the savings on to folks as a courtesy. Remember too that the mailing tubes ($20+ a dozen) and shipping tape cost money....all costs that I paid for. I didn't make really any money on the Lamin-X.
It was more a courtesy to members here.

To make cutting out the shapes in the Laminex material. You can send your templates to a laser shop that makes Steel Rule Dies (a piece of plywood about 1/2 inch thick with the shape laser cut into the plywood and a sharpened band of steel knife blade set into the groove cut by the laser). You just lay the laminex material out onto a sheet of smooth wood like plywood and place the steep rule die on the material and stand on it to cut the laminex in one shot. In production where the quantity of parts you want to stamp is too much to use the stand on it method a machine called a clicker press is used to stamp out the shapes. The steel rule dies create the exact same shape every hit. This is probably how Laminex stamps out the precut versions they sell. Very safe, each part takes only seconds to make and no slip of an exacto knife trying to follow the flat template and the parts come out with clean edges. I use these dies to make gaskets for customer jobs at my machine shop. The people we use to make the dies are Terrene Engineering Laser Cutting, Laser Engraving, Die Cutting & More • Terrene, Inc. They are in Mukilteo Wa. and I simply email them the template shape or a cad drawing of the shape I need the die to cut and they send me sa die. price is typically about $100 - 250 for a die depending on the size and complexity. The Headlight shape is pretty simple and I wouldn't expect to pay much more than $100 for a die. I am pretty sure one shape can cut out the right & left light cover. and it will save you hours of cutting with an exacto knife.

Just a bump on this thread -- I still have Lamin-X for E500E "Euro" headlights (pre and post-facelift) as well as fog lamps.
Highly recommended to protect your precious glass lenses !!
