Always wanted 944, but the Turbo nosed, and rear apron fitted, so the choices would have been the Turbo or S2. Well, 1989 S2 came along, right price, local car, right color combo for my taste, and "Red Sonja" came home with me.

Perfect she is not, definitely a driver quality car, but solid, no accidents, nothing major, just lots of age related TLC is needed.

Here is the short list of things that definitely requires attention:

  1. Heat, always on, probably stuck open, may need Heater Control Valve 0148000052 or Metal clip/lever off, details here 944 HVAC, Clark's Garage - now switchable, but manually only.
  2. Blower operates on 4 (likely the "relay" is the culprit as outlined in this thread)
  3. AC, converted but inop, that will tackle later, griffiths.com for the parts
  4. Coolant leak, very small, throttle body (possible fix discussed here)
  5. Power steering pump wine and possible leak (Rebuild kit 10-7407-001-M995 ) Rebuild DIY and Pump Removal
  6. Power steering reservoir leak (ZF 928-347-015-05-M103)
  7. Gauge showing 12.7V while driving: (AutohausAZ Bosch 30097 $33)
  8. Slow old battery (replacing with 700CCA unit)
  9. Driver's side door pocket, plastic trim broken, repaired
  10. Window switch, driver's side plate for passenger window, inop, will replace, interchangeable (with panel, Ebay, $20)
  11. Rear View Mirror, off the windshield, will glue back (Autozone, glue, $7)
  12. Climate control trim plate cracked, will replace (Ebay, all 10 trim pieces, vents, switches, bezels, etc $110)
  13. Aftermarket double din head unit, no trim plate, huge gap, will make facia/filler panel (Ebay, $15)
  14. Tweeter grills, screwed on (shaking my head), will repair
  15. Replace all speaker, full overhaul (Sizes and details on 10 speaker system) Fixed wires, added powered subwoofer
  16. Rear hatch creaks on the driver side, will replace both bushings (only944, pair, $27)
  17. Driver's door strap/check bracket, apparently that is one royal pain, (92853741703 suggestions here...) was straight forward
  18. Passenger side front bumper turn lens, cracked, will replace both (Only944, $70, clear, with bulbs)
  19. Driver side outer fog light filler piece, missing, will replace (Pelican $75 that's kind of a rip off, such a tiny end pieces)
  20. Rear passenger bumper corner cover, paint chipping/bowing, will replace (Ebay, L+R, red, $70)
  21. Motor Mounts
  22. Dash defrost vents, starting to crack, known flaw on all these cars, and 968 too... will try to modify/adapt 911 trim (Ebay $50)
  23. Intermittent tachometer (lets hope it's just a old cold joints pelican forums tach fix) and rennlist forum)
  24. Calipers, dusty looking, will refresh the finish
  25. Stone guards, clear plastic "sticker", both sides, old, cracking after 30 years, will remove
  26. Paint correction and polish, my brother owes me a favor, that's his game, it will look great I'm sure.
  27. Need Lamin-x for fog lamp lenses, as these are $$$
  28. Caster Blocks - to be updated to hard/sport from Elephant Racing
  29. CV inner boots torn: replaced inner CV units, rebooted, and reg-greased all 4, new hardware
PDF Manual for the cars is here https://www.porsche.com/all/media/pdf/originalparts/en/E_944_91_KATALOG.pdf

Cheers!

Today was the first day I actually had a chance to really look over the vehicle, and drive it around neighborhood, until I get the tags. Found the options sticker

IMG_1061-XL.jpg

Discovered few more things that it needs, small coolant weeping at the intake junction, have to investigate, I don't even know what is there, and looks like a JB Weld too?

EDIT: Found this post S2 throttle body coolant leak - Pelican Parts Forums

"unhook both hoses from the TB fittings and join them together with a barb connector/another piece of hose, bypass the TB entirely.
it's only there to prevent the TB from icing up..."

That should be an easy fix...

Climate control - fans speed only works on 4... Most likely same issue as outlined here Blower motor : high speed only - Rennlist - Porsche Discussion Forums

The best way is to recover the whole dash but you may try this (expensive :spend:)
defroster trim
Good idea, actually, and the price? Very narrow though, not going to cover some of the cracking in my case. But certainly a solution for some, have not seen that piece yet, thanks for sharing!

Did a little bit of work on the car today... Fixed the 10-speaker driver's door side pocket trim, turned out very nice actually. Will touch with textured semigloss paint for a good measure, and that would do...

IMG_1069-L.jpg

IMG_1070-L.jpg

And near final

2022012316170652-7577402300060473570-IMG_1076-L.jpg

Looked through all the speakers, interesting setup. Mid woofers appears to be stock, but no damage. Midranges what looks to be a Tang-Bang 3" drivers, and actually, very nice Vifa tweeters.

IMG_1056-X2.jpg

I trimmed their bezels so now, the factory tweeter grills sit flush with the door panel, still ugly screws, but I will have to remove door panels to secure them correctly and hide the screw holes, but that is for later...

Stopped by my brother's friend's house, also 944 enthusiast, so as a welcome to 944 club, gave to 2 filters, and the lip (the lip was actually on my brother's old 944, was totaled) Now, 10 years later, I will have a piece of my brother's car on mine

Done a bit more work on the car today...

13. Creaking/rattling hatch - no more!!! The fix came from Products | Hatch Pin Seats – Porsche 924, 944 - Only944.com

hatch_seals-L.jpg

Excellent instructions too Hatch Pin Seats - Only944.com About 20 minutes, and no more rattling hatch, such a great feeling!!!

This is what factory bushings looked like after 30 years of abuse from the hatch

IMG_1080-X2.jpg

17. Bumper cap, passenger side, now replaced this bowed/cracked piece

IMG_1079-X2.jpg

Spares came in, good solid condition, a little bit of the rubbing compound and polish and a perfect match

IMG_1078-X3.jpg

Little by little, getting there...

When I got my c43 project It was covered in clear bra that looked like that and worse. Both bumpers and skirts completely covered, front of hood and roof and all door edges. It was a nightmares.

If you plan on repainting I can recommend a good adhesive remover. You need to be careful with it coz it might soften the clearcoat but it was the only thing that worked.

A well done restoring your C43! That's about the condition of my R129 when I bought it after sitting in the yard for 2 years.

Well, a little bit more work is done.

Rear view mirror is back on the car. Made a face trim cover for the aftermarket double din unit (came with the car), though, I think I will revert back to a simple looking single din and the pocket, matches interior better imo - that is if and when quality head units will become available again! I didn't realize that the chip shortage affected car audio industry as well! I was shocked to see "not in stock, no ETA available" on 90% of the head units at Crutchfield!!! Boss and other garbage still there, to some degree, brand names - nope!.

Firs day with the car, missing the trim

P1190007-XL.jpg

ABS plastic cut and trimmed to fit, about to be wrapped in leather

Couple more things are fixed...

New 700CCA battery is in, no more old slow battery!

Replaced the passenger side window switch (driver's plate), interesting how all these switches are simple interchangeable. Arrived for $20 with the trim plate

IMG_1095-X2.jpg

IMG_1096-X2.jpg

Arrived a wonderfully priced complete dash trim kit (ac trim is cracked on my car), the rest are spares... just in case $110 with shipping, really is a bargain imo.

1643483479067.png

No brand head unit is back in the car (came with it, prior owner also made me a thumb drive with various music. Had a chance to fiddle with it a bit, and while no modern marvel, overall, very useful unit, tuned it to sound and look decent

IMG_1099-X2.jpg

And the quickest and easiest bluetooth pairing and setup I've ever see on any aftermarket unit! Works well too

IMG_1098-X2.jpg

It has RCA out for the sub channel, so as a temporary "sound solution" I will just add 8" bass tube and a simple mono amp (have all those as spares) and concentrate the extra money on deferred maintenance.

Very nice work on the radio surround!

A very well kept red S2 drove by me today on the way home. Haven't seen one on the road in ages. I'm jealous.
Thanks! I really do enjoy these custom intricate detail projects, as long as there is no rush. Freezing cold outside, nice and warm in doors, music, taking my time, doing my thing on the day off...

Funny you mention the well kept S2, that is what kinda triggered 944 purchase, few months ago, seen charcoal S2, just brough back memories of how much I liked those cars! Now, I'm here, and spending money on restoration lol 🤑

Don't you hate it when that happens... you KNOW you have too many cars, but you "can use one of those in the lineup"... just not enough to sell anything.

maw
Right? This was the last "available" parking space, 944 took it, no more room (and can't think of anything to sell...) :peep:

Moving along slowly... All the light and lenses fixed, will wash up and take few pics, looks so much better, still thing that tinny filler pieces for fogs are $95 MSRP!!! Blower fan now operates at all 4 speeds after cleaning the contacts under that old cruel "relay" as outlined here Blower motor : high speed only - Rennlist - Porsche Discussion Forums.

Received a nice large box of goodies from Pelican with new drain plug, washers, filters, power steering pump hoses, p/s rebuild kit, motor mounts, door handle gaskets, heat/cold switchover valves assorted clips and hinges to fix the "always hot" issue #1 on the list. Door strap and door/body receiver hinge with new hardware, that's the part that would take a while, apparently have to be drilled out, I can see that someone already stripped the hex style heads of hinge bolts... Planning ahead, will likely have to use a rivet nut/tool to get the job done, so ordered one, arriving today

rivet_nut_tool_set_door_strap_hinge-XL.jpg

Tomorrow another day!

The pelican order arrived, unfortunately just a part of it, these will be arriving next week:

door_check_strap-L.jpg

For now, since I've read that removal of these can be a pain in the ass (no access from behind, and blind nuts are impossible to re-use), I figured let me at least start on the process.

1. Affirmative, impossible to remove, someone already tried before me, stripped heads
2. One must drill the original hardware
3. One must use rivet nuts to accommodate for the new bolts and the new hinge

This was the issue: Broken body mounted door strap hinge

IMG_1146-XL.jpg

Prior owner attempted the repair, and gave up (many have from what I've read on the forums), stripped heads

IMG_1146-XL.jpg

Drilled out the heads

IMG_1147-XL.jpg

Broken hinge removed

IMG_1148-XL.jpg

Part of the hinge retained in the door strap in my case

IMG_1149-XL.jpg

Removed the hinge to strap bolt

IMG_1152-XL.jpg

Using the rivet nut tool, for the fist time, works great! Using M6 rivet nuts with stainless recessed hex tooled bolts.

IMG_1154-L.jpg

Inserted into the door (enlarged the holes a little, applied Rust Bullet to the holes in abundance), hammered in the rivets then pressed in using the tool.

IMG_1151-XL.jpg

Applied a bead of Rust Bullet around rivets too, just for a good measure. Now we wait for the package to arrive with new strap and the hinge. But all ready to be installed!

D

Had a chance to do few little things...

Installed my repaired door pocket, looks and feels soo nice after the repair, this really was the only interior major flaw

IMG_1162-L.jpg

Now that the car officially registered, I opted for antique version (with understanding the benefits and limitation, this works woks for me). Installed new square grommets and stainless steel fasteners for the plates. Also, removed the factory orange "parking lenses" (one was cracked, and just 30+ years aging) with clear

IMG_1159-L.jpg

Went for a little "test drive", and a car wash. She cleans up well! Still need a full paint correction. Not until it will get a bit warmer.

IMG_1157-L.jpg

Coming along...

@darek_u @dionphaneuf - Getting ready to tackle the leaky whiny power steering pump. Fluid? I know the original manual calls for Dex II ATF no longer available. There really is no more non-synthetic Dex III ATF to my knowledge. and some comments on the web say that "if you use the synthetic it will ruin the system"

That said, what should I use? Brand, type, source?

Pelican lists Pentosin CHF-202, is that the one to use? Currently what is in the car is come clear/yellowish fluid. I'm almost thinking I can use Mercedes Power Steering Oil, considering that Dex III ATF was used in the early years as power steering fluid (Q 1 46 0002)?

EDIT: Unless (just found) Febi 0009899203-08971 is the one? ATF (Power steering fluid) - Porsche 944, 964, 993 Clearly states that "Mineral based non-synethtic formula."?

Dex-III was used as P/S fluid in the early 80's, IIRC. For the W124, the MB fluid was specified instead, primary difference (AFAIK) being it wasn't dyed red. The MB stuff (Q 1 46 0001) was cheap, <$10/liter and you don't need much. I'm trying to find out if the -0001 fluid used for decades has recently been superceded to the new -0002 fluid or not. RevParts is showing the supercession but that isn't always accurate. Also finding photos showing both p/n's on the same bottle label.

Thank you for confirming that! My theory was:

If, Dex III and MB Q 1 46 0001 (superceeded by 0002) are interchangeable for MB cars in Power Steering systems, AND original Porsche manual calls for Dex ATF, then I can use Q 1 46 0001 (or it's superseeded part 0002) in Porsche as well...

BTW, Q 1 46 0002 is still dirt cheap, last year, it was still under $10 from the local dealer, oppose to the other, more modern/sophisticated MB power steering fluid later cars calling for...

Is it safe to assume that Q 1 46 0001/0002 are still a mineral base (being under $10/L)?

Regards,
D

Yes - I'm sure both are mineral based. I've never found a need for synthetics in the P/S system, and would be concerned about possible leaks on expensive stuff, so I always stick with the OE MB fluids. And, I like that it's gold color so I can tell the difference between ATF and P/S leaks. (Wish the SLS fluid was a third color though, lol).

I'm sure @Klink knows the difference between the old -0001 and newer -0002 power steering fluids.

Nice job on that door strap! I have a set of left handed drill bits I keep around for projects like that, they work great - drill drill drill and then the fastener starts spinning. Have you considered running without a front plate? In CA remarkably it's just a fix-it ticket. I'd get dinged once or twice a year when parked for hours at a time on the street, but would just show up to the station, show them the front plate on the car, pay $10 and be on my way. Later that day I'd remove it again to keep it tidy. The rear on these cars is even worse IMO - Porsche didn't make the recess the right size or shape for an NA market plate, Euros fit perfectly though.

Cheers! Yep, have a set too, didn't work, those blind nuts were already loose, just kept spinning, so I just had to "wallow out" hat using cobalt bits.

Front plate - agree, I really don't like front plates, that's why on R129 since the restoration, I have not put one on the car, and 3+ years now... Not even one pull over.

This car, bumper has few scratches right where the plate is/was, so the new one actually hides them well. If/when I get to the pain work, I will indeed delete the front bracket permanently, NA plates do not fit the shape for sure! For now though, this one stays.

The door check strap and hinge are all sorted out, very very satisfying repair for some reason. I guess in part that so many negative comments and frustration floating around that door strap hinge. Four words: Rivet Nuts and Rivet Tool

Factory hardware

IMG_1169-X2.jpg

New M6 hardware

IMG_1168-XL.jpg

And the final repair

IMG_1166-X2.jpg

New hinge, new bolts, new pin, and works like new!

IMG_1167-X2.jpg

I didn't bother replacing the check strap (after testing this one), very firm still, zero noise, no reason, but I now have a spare if needed.

Regards,
D

Isn't it amazing how satisfying proper hardware can be? Sometimes I feel ridiculous for buying nuts and bolts from the OE, but when they show up, they are usually on another level compared to the stuff that one typically finds, even at specialty fastener stores.

That said, I did notice MB substituting 'pedestrian' hardware on occasion during my top end re-build. Disappointing for sure... doubly disappointing at the price they charged.

I have, thus far, been unsuccessful in finding a supplier that can procure fasteners from those that seem to be the OE suppliers... Kamax for example, but would love to hear if others have.

Back to the subject at hand... D.. this thing is beautiful. I've definitely come to admire the 944 shape in the last couple years, and the interior shapes/colors and textures are quite appealing too. Nice snap up!

@Duh_Vinci ---

Very satisfying to see you replace parts like the door hinge!

Perhaps I might be able to save you some money. Pelican Parts is no longer the least costly source of parts --- by far. I find they used to have a big part of the market a long time ago as they were first to have an expansive website and parts lookup. However, the dealers are now beating Pelican on the price of OE parts.

Lots of Porsche dealers used the same Parts Revolution system as MB dealers ---- and they all have varying levels of discounts off list, and some have free shipping, and some don't.

I just part some parts for my 993 and I did the usual price shopping thing..... for OE Porsche parts (like the door hinge), these are cheapest. Note I am in California so out of state dealers don't charge me tax. As well, the closer the dealer, the lesser the shipping charge.

  • www.sunsetporscheparts.com - Sunset Porsche in OR. They have free shipping for orders $199 and above. I used to use the guys a lot back when it was all phone/email as well.
  • www.gaudinporscheparts.com - Gaudin Porsche in NV. I have recently started purchasing from these guys since their prices, even with shipping, are now better than Sunset.
  • www.delawareporscharts.com - Porsche of Delaware - I have not tried them, but they are very popular with guys on the East Coast.
  • www.getporscheparts.com - MileOne's Porsche of Silver Spring Washington D.C. - I have not tried them, but they are very popular with guys on the East Coast.

Good Luck!

WOW, buddy, this is an eye opener, really really is!!! All, and I mean ALL OE PORSCHE parts I purchased from Pelican are cheaper at these dealers, and in some cases considerably cheaper at all of these places!!! The Shop Genuine OEM Porsche Parts and Accessories | getPorscheparts (Porsche of Silver Spring) is actually semi local to me, little over an hour, but still, worth it. Wow... THANK YOU!!!

I'm still new to this Porsche thing, and would like learn and maintain it as it deserves, but if I can save some money doing it:

200.gif

As you, from this point, will be doing some "shopping cart" comparison for sure, thank you very much!!!

Regards,

EDIT: just went through the list of parts from the last 2 orders, Pelican vs Dealer: at least 20% more expensive at Pelican!!!!

Well, I did the opposite, I've actually filled my PS system with Dex III yesterday, so I can see the difference in any leaks lol Disconnected the return line, drained, filled with all red... Pump was always noisy at the cold start for 5-7 min. Then the magic happened, with Dex III fluid - started it just now, after a 24hours of sitting in the cold:

ZERO noise!!! :jono: I couldn't be happier! I still need to trace town the leak/s but quite and happy car!!!

...this thing is beautiful. I've definitely come to admire the 944 shape in the last couple years, and the interior shapes/colors and textures are quite appealing too. Nice snap up!
I drove it around today for about 20 min, just getting use to the clutch, it's been 9 years since I've owned a manual car (B5 A4 TQMS)... Didn't notice my father was walking the dog near by, now that we all home, he looks at me: "What a looker this 944 going down the road, I was a little younger"

I've always like these 944s, specially "turbo nosed", but the more I spend time with this car, the more I begin to appreciate those shapes, lines and textures as you said. I'm quite happy with it so far!

D

Been too busy at work, but this week will work on few thing, cluster related.

I removed the cluster to check on the wired "grinding" noise coming from odometer, the gear definitely looks near stripped. So I ordered new gears, spare cluster at a very reasonable price (God knows I can not NOT have a spare), will inspect and probably have to re-solder some joints on the tachometer for intermittent issues and will replace the dull factory light bulbs with new (and will modify the reflector, in hopes for making it brighter).

And guess who is doing the "dishes" tonight?

IMG_1195-X2.jpg

My "little" brother!!! He owes me... Found these last night:

IMG_1189-X2.jpg

Took this home a very very reasonable price of $700, Cleaned up really nice, still ok matching Michelin tires... 18x8.5 and 18x10, factory 993/996 wheels, this set came from 2001 Carrera 4... Local, owner upgraded to late style 997 19" wheels and here we are!

IMG_1198-X2.jpg

Should look to par!

Regards,
D

Personally, I like the cup wheels on the 944, but those turbo twists are nice. Did you know the spokes are hollow? They should be quite light. They were also very expensive when they came out. Great deal even without the tires.

I think some turbo twists are hollow and many are not….depending on part number.

I was aware there are copies out there now which are not hollow. Didn't know about OEM. Don't you have them on your 993, Jlaa?

Drew, funny you mention Cup style wheels! Original Cups are out of my budget for this car, but I like them very much, and have considered Maxilight replicas Cup Style, 7,5x17, 310,00 $ they seem to have good reviews... But these Twists I also like very much, and these tend to look bigger since the lip is very smooth, so visually, appearance is a bit larger than Cup size for size. At this price though, I couldn't not buy them, this is the price for replicas, and I now feel all "warm and fuzzy" knowing that I have good factory wheels at the right price :jono:

I think some turbo twists are hollow and many are not….depending on part number.
These are not hollow from what I understand (from rennlist):

"...Two ways to tell, (1) Metal valve stem = hollow spoke, rubber = solid (2). Grab the spokes, if you feel ribs in the back of the spokes then it is solid, if feel smooth then it is hollow spoke..."

My set: rubber stems and ribbed inner spokes... Still like them :peep:

I was aware there are copies out there now which are not hollow. Didn't know about OEM. Don't you have them on your 993, Jlaa?
Yeah, @Duh_Vinci knows what he is doing here - there are OE turbotwists that are hollow (known as “hollow spokes”) and solid OE turbotwists. Obviously the hollow spokes command more moolah, but that price @Duh_Vinci you paid is spectacular!

The maxlite cup wheels @Duh_Vinci mentions are Cup1 wheels which came on 964s which are nice:

@sheward you mention 993 cup wheels which are cup2 wheels which are also nice

My own car came with some non OE wheels when I first bought it, so I replaced the wheels with 993 3pc RS wheels, which originally were made by speedline, but now are made under license by Tramont in France.

I bet a 944 on 993 RS wheels would look spectacular. However, I also wonder if 18” is too big.

Absolutely love those 3pc RS wheels, stunning, and suit 993 so well!!! And yes, 3pc would look spectacular on 944 Modified 1989 Porsche 944 Turbo

(just not on my budget for this S2 ;))

As to 18" size, I too wondered if they would be a tad bit too big for 944. I was dead set on 17" for sure, then these wheels came along, so I did some searching, and came up with the slew of the picture of 944 with 18" wheels, I like it in the pictures

Worse case scenario, if I don't like the ride quality of looks, there will be no loss of $$ on this set, will sell quickly... Should have them on this weekend, will see...

D

EDIT: I really don't thing there are any bad looking wheels in the Porsche line (other than perhaps the early Boxter twists)

A "little bit" of the progress today...

Started with these awful aged stone guards

P1190009-XL.jpg

These was pita to remove, about 4 hours for both sides... I will replace these, but the originals were an eye sore!

And installed these "little" beauties

In addition to the looks of these (I personally love them), few thigs that make me very happy:

Original Porsche wheels
Everything bolts right up
No bolts/nuts to change
No hubcentric rings to worry about
Fairly light

Ride quality - I've had my reservations, stiff car as is, and going from 16" to 18"...? Very little difference from the stock wheel/tire combo, not much harsher at all, and fill the wheel arches nicely!

D

Those stone guards are an RPITA to remove. Kudos. I still have PTSD from removing mine. On my car the driver’s side took 2 hrs. The passenger’s side took me two days to remove with solvents, heat gun, etc. This is because my car has dry sump, and there is a 10 quart oil tank right behind the stone guard that holds HOT oil. After so many years of baking, the stone guard shattered into tiny 2mm square pieces and I had to remove gazillions of tiny pieces!

Btw those are interesting center caps. They look detailed and not as convex as what I am used to. What is the part number on those? Are they not 993-361-303-11-9A1 ?

Ha!!! Interesting you mention this, my passenger side, large piece - took twice as long to remove compare to driver's side for no known reason! I know for sure I have no oil tank there lol! Inch by inch by inch... I had to walk away from it at one time, just to "re-group"

Now done - I swear, that cleaned up look takes many years of the appearance of the car!

Those center caps, stock off the S2 wheels, if I'm not mistaken, it may be the 928 361 033201 part, nothing was stamped on the back of them though. Flat, all metal with the snap ring riveted just like these Vintage Lot Of 4 Porsche Stuttgart 911 912 928 944 OEM Alum Center Caps Genuine | eBay

Got it. You will find 993-361-303-11-9A1 will fit a little better. They are plastic, but are convex and are made to fit the curvature of those wheels.

Thanks man, appreciate it! Will definitely look into it, I do want the monochromatic caps on this car for sure!

Took the car for a long mixed drive at 7am this morning, wanted to see how these tires do on various roads... Also, wanted to drive-off the protective coating original owner applied when he removed them 6 months ago and stored then indoors.

P2200034-XL.jpg

Enjoyed curvy back roads so much, had to drive on one "stretch" of 5.5 miles 3 times! Car really likes to be above 3K rpms, very very nice feedback from the tires and suspension, and manual gearbox after not having one for over 9 years seem to be lots of fun!

D, Your new toy looks great! Pretty soon you’re going to have to move to
NewPorsche Beach, CA:jono:
Cheers Terry! What I need, is 3-6 acres in the country and 6 car garage with 6" concrete slab so I can have the lift I've always wanted! :yahoo:

My brother was given multiple samples of Jescar refinishing products, I've had some time today, so I gave this one a try

P2200042-X2.jpg

I like 3 in 1 generally speaking, this one similar to Menzerna 3 in 1... Not overly aggressive, but does well on micro scratches and oxidation. SInce I do not have abundance of experience with single stage paint, I felt comfortable using this product (though, in reality, this Porsche really needs heavier cut as the first stage. In due time. For now, couldn't be happier!

and now

Cleaned up really well! Oxidation is gone, luster is back on, couldn't be happier! More of the paint correction when it gets a little warmer...

Nice! These are great on twisters. I loved the torque too, so fun. Any thoughts of doing any track or autocross?
Track, funny you mentioned this - yes, would love to!

The gentleman who does my tires (my brother's friends father) is a huge 944/951 aficionado, and used to track his cars (he still has two 951s and 928 4S)... We stopped by his private shop (home) few weeks ago, to chat, he said he will be happy to help with the prep (once I sort out all the things that this car needs).

I do indeed look forward to that and really really glad that this car is a "driver" not a garage queen!

D
